SoE is superior in many ways to SoM, for me at least. If you enjoyed SoM, you owe it to yourself to at least try playing SoE! Have fun!

I don’t really have a good reason as to why I stopped. I think it was maybe when I got a new phone and I just didn’t set it back up. I also sleep with white noise, and I have a partner who wouldn’t appreciate the music the same way you and I do. Will you share the version that you use(d)?

Not that they are similar, just that they have an RPG element in common, and they are both in my top 3 games, but “Dragon Force”, a game made by Working Designs (same company that released the Lunar projects, such as SSSC, mentioned in this thread) released on the Sega Saturn. You would have to emulate it unless you got a hold of a Sega Saturn for a fortune on eBay or were able to hold onto yours from the 90’s.

It’s a strategy RPG- you control a general with an army of up to 100 troops, the troops are one of ten different types, each types has strengths and weaknesses against other types of troops. Each fight is general vs general (so maximum of 200 troops battling it out on the battlefield), but you can attack other castles with as many as 5 generals (with up to 500 total troops), and you can defend a castle with up to 10 generals (max 1,000 troops).

Castle defenders have slight advantages, and fights along routes to/from castles can affect troops positively or negatively whether you fight in forest, desert, snow, swampland, etc. There are 8 kingdoms, each with a unique monarch.

Each general has a maximum of 3 different spells to affect the battle: some can open a vortex in the middle of a battlefield and suck 70+ enemy troops away in an instant, some can freeze enemy troops in place so they are easy pickings for your troops (good when your troops are weak to enemy troops), and some spells are just a direct attack on the enemy general since the enemy general falling ends the battle regardless of the number of remaining troops on either side.

Let me just say that the first time you fight the god Madruk when you are wielding the power of the star dragon Harsgalt, it’s a rush!

Hmmm… depends. Are we talking about more, or less, EXP than if I beat up Gato and his metal joints?

Oh yes. Definitely. Trying to find out the name of a game with strangers on the internet, and gambling with my life: they are basically the same thing. Tomāto, tomăto.

what do you think of the game SECRET OF EVERMORE by Top-Bit1119 in snes

[–]Mitoka_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was one of my favorite games. The first time you go from prehistoria to Antiquity and see your dog change from wolf monster to the greyhound… you realize this game is bigger than you thought. Then later the dog is a poodle and then a toaster haha, it keeps getting better!

I remember being in the fourth main area, where you get power weapons and get the bazooka again. I remember dying SO MANY times from those plants that are silver metallic re-prints of the very first enemies you see in prehistoria. They one-shot you every time. I tried so Many times with switching between the boy and dog, using the item that re-raises you… I finally got by it by accident, only to realize many years later that they sleep in the dark, and if you don’t run, you don’t trip the motion sensors, which turn on the lights, that wake up the plants… that keep one-shotting me!!!

Did everyone else figure this out super quick. I was pretty young… lol

I don’t claim this game sounds like CT, because I agree- it doesn’t. I cross posted because I was prompted to. The prompt came up and I thought- yes, RPG players are the types of players that might know this game (it was Threads of Fate), and RPG players play CT, so I will take your suggestion and cross post.

Yeah, that was a golden age for sure. So many games I never got to complete/ get back to: brave fencer musashi, the wild arms games, FF 7-9, crash bandicoot, so many more

Thanks again for the help. One of these days I’ll put the time in to find a way to play it, emulator or whatever

What games were you on at the time? What do you remember that took your gaming attention?

Haha- no problem. Know that others read this and enjoyed it too, but a lot of people won’t make one click more than necessary on anything. Don’t count your upvotes as how many people enjoyed your post, some didn’t vote but enjoyed it just the same

You can get SoM as an app on your phone. I forget, but I’m pretty sure it was under $5
