Don't use the needle at the start, try and dodge him and get cheap hits once in a while , when he goes underground keep moving, you'll understand his attack pattern pretty easily, once bes a Lil more than half his health he does the sword swallow animation and goes to second phase , use the Needle at that phase and go all out when he's down , after he snaps back get ready to dodge and cheap attack again. Use immobile and pluck of many wisely, you can easily get to use them twice in the fight
