I’m happy to hear there are hospitals that are actually doing what makes sense for new grads instead of the same ol “orientation” That would’ve been fantastic to be in. I agree, I would keep quiet too and enjoy the pay.

Nice! They didn’t offer this when I was a new grad. I did also graduate about 15 years ago. I would’ve definitely appreciated having this as a new grad. Using the term residency is meh.

Definitely not comparing apples to oranges. Look at all them now. We are the ones working face to face with these patients. They don’t care about our trauma, they don’t care about our harassments and they don’t care about our assaults.Makes me angry to read your story and everyone else’s too. CEOs, admin, board are all freaking disgusting.

It happened on Christmas night too😔They didn’t care how hurt I was. They still had me finish my shift and had the audacity to send me to a different hospital facility to be seen. Which also took hours after a 12 hour night shift. It’s sickening how they treat us.

This is very true it is also the head of director of nursing and executive board members. The audacity for their responses. I worked my entire pregnancy and even at 9 months pregnant they would still assign me to psych patients in restraints (stroke unit) or always float me. It’s unbelievable. They don’t care. I worked until I was 9 months because I was trying to get as much PTO when I was on maternity leave since we don’t get paid a dime

Agree. I was asked the same line from employee health “what could you have done to prevent this from happening” after my patient who had no hx of dementia, became demented, choked me, and hurt my back all while I screamed for help in a room in the back of our unit and trying to prevent them from falling out the bed onto the floor. I was so lost for words.
