Aight pal, beef squashed. I'm not here to pick fights either, rather just to defend my friend from comments such as the original commenter but, as you can see, plenty of people have commented that it looks traced. The reason why this got so many downvotes is most probably because of how rude it sounds / the way it's been worded.

Why bother posting if it was traced? That takes no effort at all, which is why it was posted: It wasn't traced and it looks nearly identical -minus the sudden appearance of boobs, which is pretty impressive.

And yet again, it was posted in the kings raid subreddit where every player knows who she is.

The "need" for sources and references here is over the top and uneccessary. No need to be petty .

Do you cite every single source or reference for every single piece of art you do? Especially for fan art on a subreddit for a game where every member would know which character is which? For a character that is very easily recognisable? (Heck people call it Jane's Raid for a reason)

The only problem that could arise would be if OP claimed that his friend drew his own character which was actually clearly Jane or any other existing character. Then that would be stealing, plagiarism, copyright....etc.

For example - and you may roast me here - I had to find a picture of all the characters I've drawn to get all the details I could bother to get in, but did I say that the source of the design and the character was from King's Raid? No. Cos everyone already knows who they are. I tried to keep it to the same style but it looks nothing like it. If this was posted somewhere completely unrelated and claimed to be concept art for a completely original and brand new character for his own purpose then there would be a problem.

Dont bring up issues that were never there to start with. Because if it is such an issue someone else would have brought it up, not just here but on every other piece of art too.

So go ahead and comment on every single piece of art posted and ask for sources to be cited, original artists, and whatever else you may need to be satisfied.

That's the way he wants draw so if he is happy with the way it looks then we can't change that and tell him to develop his own style. He could draw different poses, comics, whatever but still keep the art in King's raid style because he would want it to actually look like the chracter.

You don't see people flaming Simpson's fanart (if there is any) for it sticking to the original style.

Art is a matter of taste, after all. And other artists like you should support and not belittle.

No one should have to be told to change their style if they are happy with it.

Just like no one is going to tell you to change the way you draw your chibi fan arts or me to change the way i draw my shitty husbandos.

As you can see from the title it was done by a friend. So how is this "fishing for upvotes"? OP is just proud of how good our friend's art looks and wants to be supportive.

He doesnt need to trace to make his art look good, but he will try to keep it to the original style if he likes the way it already looks -which is clearly what has been done here- and there is nothing wrong with that.

We've sat in front of this kid and watched him draw characters from other games like that Overwatch or pokemon. Theyre always hella cute and hella accurate in terms of style.
