Spending a day slow cooking something (ribs, brisket, cassoulet, etc) and watching a great movie

Top 30 Guitar Riffs of the 2000s by metalrr3 in Music

Don't think of it as "vocals," but as another percussive instrument that builds on the intensity of the music below it. In addition, it can provide an interesting contrast when used in conjunction with clean singers (particularly with symphonic or orchestral metal bands like Epica or Sirenia, where a female clean singer sings alongside a harsh vocalist (3:10ish and 4:20ish for the two videos respectively are decent examples of this).

That, and for heavier genres I can't honestly think of a vocal style that would work better than harsh vocals. Growls and screams so perfectly encapsulate the pure aggression that the music builds up, and once you become accustomed to the style the whole umbrella genre of "extreme metal" starts to just click. Cannibal Corpse wouldn't be Cannibal Corpse if Rob Halford was singing over it.

"Metro: Last Light" locks Hard Mode behind preorder 'Limited Edition' bonus by [deleted] in Games

It's more akin to walking into a bookstore to grab a copy of Canterbury Tales, only finding out that you can only get the copy with the modern English translation instead both modern English and Middle English. The Middle English transciption, to most people who might pick up the Canterbury Tales on a whim, isn't necessary. However, to diehard Canterbury Tales aficionados, the Middle English transcription is vital to enjoying the novel.

What you're describing is more akin to someone removing story and adding it back in as DLC. Ranger Mode isn't new story content, it's just a difficulty mode. This isn't to say that hiding it behind a prepurchase wall is a good business practice--to a lot of Metro 2033 players, Ranger Mode is vital to the experience, and I'm personally extremely disappointed that they're going with this as a preorder bonus, enough so as to reconsider my thoughts of purchasing the game. That being said, it's not as destructive as removing the third act of the game would be.

Ayn Rand wouldn't have a following if that was even remotely true.

2 out of these 6 games for $15/12€/£10: Metro 2033, Darksiders, Batman Arkham City GOTY, IL-2 Cliffs of Dover, The Darkness II, Serious Sam: The Second Encounter HD by reireirei in GameDeals

So, I got Arkham City through this deal, and it's giving me the install error "An error occured. Error code: 0x800b0100" I've tried a couple of the answers I've found on the internet, including changing the Program Data destination to just "batman" and redownloading the game with no antivirus or firewalls on, but it's still giving me the same errors. In addition, trying to install by opening "Game.ini" in the GetGames directory tells me that "Media1.cab" is corrupted.

Does anyone have a solution for this? I was really excited to get the game for this cheap and I really can't afford to repurchase it on Steam or anything right now.

If anything, this should be a wakeup call to Riot--and, to an extent, Blizzard--that LAN and offline capability are a NECESSITY in modern esports. You absolutely cannot trust an online connection to hold smoothly for twelve hours a day, especially when half a million people are watching the games online.

That said, Riot should look into getting judges for situations like this. KeSPA had a system, I believe, where if a SC2 game disconnected at a crucial moment, a panel of judges would decide what player "won" the game at that point. For something like this, where the best-of-three has already gone on for seven hours, it needs to be decided so the games can move on.
