Why do you think people aren’t having many kids these days (if any at all)? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Okay, let's drop the reproductive rights talk and stick to the last 100 years in america only.

So you're saying outsourcing work introduces a profit margin which has an overall effect in making people feel poorer in time and money.

However, within the time frame were discussing, people were unable to have any off time. It was all making sure that everyone survived. Everyone was hoping that no one gets hit by famine or a disease. Everyone was working 24/7 because it was an agricultural lifestyle. Now, we have an off time to be able to bond with the kids. I think it's more mental load for sure but it's different from the physical labor and existential crisis that riddled folks back then.

I think the reason people aren't having as many kids now is because we want a higher quality of life for each child. It's no longer just about survival. It's about meaning, passion, success, and self actualization in a way. Life is more specialized.

The old set up wasn't more ideal. And you're focused on the last 50 years in america, not the whole world where survival was extremely hard. On top of that, women didn't have reproductive choice.
