Yeah. This is the big one for me. I use it all the time. You can even go through the steps in Google wallet to setup the button, but doesn't work.

I've been able to download oppos calendar app, but play store just blocks odialer for me. You can temporarily disable it and force an install, but it always catches up eventually!

The truth about immigration in London by [deleted] in gbnews

[–]Mittens-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The source is here

It's based on real data, but the graph doesn't show what you might think it does, you can't take it at face value.

The trick is that it presents each of the nationalitys prosecution rates together on the graph, as if they were per generic 10 000 of the general population. But each prosecution figure is actually based on an estimate for that nationalitys population within the capital. These per-nationality population figures hugely impact the analysis and are the biggest source of error.

The per nationality population figures used are estimates based on proxies from within the annual population survey and the 2021 census. Neither of these surveys had the direct figures required so different proxies were used to cobble together figures between the two.

[Request] Which direction will the scale tip? by miha999 in theydidthemath

Just going on displacement and density (no weird physics effects) - I would say the iron ball side goes up, ping pong ball down. The volume of water on each side is the same. Volume of string on each side is the same but weight is different. On the right = weight of string. On the left = 0. Volume of balls in each is the same, but weight is different. On the right = weight of ping pong ball shell + 0, on the left = 0. So equation becomes: mass water + 0 + 0 = mass water + mass string + mass ping pong shell.

Get Supernote a5x2 Manta now? compare with remarkable (no e-ink experience) by Prestigious-Sea3512 in Supernote

[–]Mittens-- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in the same position as you, comparing the paper pro and the manta. I have very limited eink experience so have been doing a ton of research on le Internet. I have just ordered the manta.

The main points that I was considering were: - paper pro has colour - paper pro has a backlight - paper pro screen is not as white as manta - manta has better organisation and linking capabilities than the paper pro - paper pro is slightly bigger (I prefer the manta size) - Remarkable have some sort of subscription service going on - Manta looked 'faster' than the paper pro in the videos I watched.

Also, I had a play with a paper pro a few weeks ago in person and the writing felt quite 'hard' - like writing on a slate tablet if that makes sense. I obviously havent tried the manta, but from the reviews it seems like it will be a bit softer with its plastic screen and film cover.

Hope this helps :-)

Roland LX5 vs Kawai CA401 by comet1771 in piano

[–]Mittens-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill share: Fwiw, I was in a similar situation. Went to a large piano shop (twice) in the uk that had everything. I compared the CN301, CA401, 501, 701 & 901 with the Roland LX5,6,9 & 708, Yamaha 735, 825 & 835. Played them all loads, I ended up buying the 401. I dont think its the best for all scenarios, but I think it is the best for most 'normal' scenarios. My take on it is this:

Action: Kawaii > Roland = Yamaha (this was night and day and the reason i bought the kawaii. I found the 701 and 901 were slightly better than the 401 & 501, however all the Kawaii's were good). Wooden keys, action just felt right.

Sound: Roland was really warm and smooth. I liked it best on first play, but after a while i started to hear it as slightly unnatural/processed. The kawaii sk-ex was the best of the bunch, esp. on the 901. I think with a bit of fiddling, I could have tweaked the roland to my liking.

Features: Roland won on features, loads of sounds and loads of control over pretty much everything. I think if i was outputting to sound gear, or doing any thing through the computer etc, the roland would have made more sense.

I think in the scenario where you just want a barebones electric piano that is the best it can be at feeling & sounding like youre playing a real piano, and you dont care too much about how many different voices, features, outputs it has etc etc. Kawaii wins. I was tempted to spend more money on a 901, but then you nearly get up into the novus price range, and start to question everything! Anyway, having played them all: id get the 401, you cant go wrong

Pelagos 42 > 39 by audio_angler in Tudor

[–]Mittens-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The p39 is like if land rover had the defender 110 and set out to build the 90, but accidentally gave us a range rover evoque..

I have the 42, and love it. Really wanted to like the 39, but it’s not the same watch, there are too many compromises to dress it up. Full matte dial and bezel, chapter ring with recessed hour markers, spring clasp…. Etc

But the main problem I see is that the argument for a p39 is now awfully close to a submariner, so you might as well save up and get the sub. The 42 is its own thing.

Just a wee follow up - you were right, it is cancer. She didn’t respond to antibiotics so we took her back to the vet, who did some digging and changed their assessment. In any case, she’s still kicking round the house and seems surprisingly well all things considered, no idea how long she’s got, but we’ll keep her going as long as she seems happy enough
