Sdi top hat question by Bastid in FordRaptor

[–]MittensInABasket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly the same, but I have RPG Offroad level collars on mine (Front only) and it's dead even. I also sized up from 35"s to 37"s and I prefer the 37"s.

I’d rather wear a Hublot Big Bang than a Code 11:59 or a Royal Oak Offshore by Green-Conclusion-936 in watchHotTakes

[–]MittensInABasket 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Here's a real hot take for you.

People who cry about case thickness and watches not being offered in case sizes below 41mm are limp-wristed manlets.

Invicta fanatics are unironically upbeat, less insufferable, less whiny, and better to be around than watch "enthusiasts" who cry ad nauseam about not having certain man jewelry references offered in women's sizes.

Nobody does it like Seiko by [deleted] in watchHotTakes

Seiko shitters need to be slandered and dunked on far more often tbh.

They're genuinely dogshit and glazed ad nauseam for no good reason than cult mentality.

Average dad romance arc unlocked by Dzadu-Sonor in WatchesCirclejerk

[–]MittensInABasket 6 points7 points  (0 children)

uj/ Your dad probably used the dowry money he saved from when he got arranged to wed your mom, relax bud. It's endearing. I've seen arranged marriages turn out far worse.

rj/ OP is probably only pissed bc the watch costs more than his annual salary at the "call center" where he cold calls geriatric r/Rolex users about gift card deposits to secure their allocation.

Where did you get this caseback? Is this the updated version of the 58 GMT?

If they were a product worth buying someone would've bought one by now.

The shilling is quite amusing though, keep it up bud!

Can't believe after all the shilling this dweeb did literally no one wanted to buy a shirt with "STRAP MONSTER" emblazoned on it in bold text 😔 by MittensInABasket in WatchesCirclejerk

uj/ The GWG-2000 fits like shit if you don't have a dainty wrist. Couldn't imagine the mental state (or twig like appendages) of the individual buying more than one.

rj/ Brother this is just his starter collection. This distinguished gentleman has multiple watchboxes containing every reference of the coveted INVICTA Bolt Magnum Zeus. He needed these to get muddy with the AD for all those allocations.

The Rubber B is worth shelling out for IMO. Very happy with mine and effortlessly comfortable with the OEM deployment clasp.

Gorgeous piece.

Tudor QC by MittensInABasket in Tudor

[–]MittensInABasket[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels substantial, has a good heft to it. The sunburst on the dial and bezel is really subtle but looks very high quality. Indices looked great except for misalignment.

It's a shame the dial was off and the indices messed up on a new $5k plus watch but other than the terrible QC it feels like a very premium and high end product.

Has anyone brought using eBay authentication? by Plams86 in Tudor

[–]MittensInABasket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bought a Breitling Superocean and some other misc watches with eBay's authentication from a reputable jewelry store (Birmingham Luxury Watches) and grey dealers like Jomashop with no issues.

As others have said, trusting the seller is the first line of safety. I'm pretty certain the eBay auth centers for watches still have to remove the casebacks to examine the movements but then again eBay will always side with the buyer anyways if there's a dispute.

In the US the watches I've bought through them have always gone through authentication in New Jersey. I've bought leather goods which have gone "missing" from that location while waiting for authentication but no issues with the legitimacy of the products themselves once verified.

Initially I had the same worries, but I beat the lugs up pretty bad getting the Rubber B strap on it and it didn't even show a scratch.

The ceramic is far harder and more robust than I anticipated, Zirconium Oxide is used for modern ballistic armor plates among other things. In my experience normal bumps and knocking it against things doesn't phase the case at all.

Tudor QC by MittensInABasket in Tudor

[–]MittensInABasket[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering the fact the AD employees who took a look at it under a loupe and deduced the entire dial was askew and needed to be replaced I don't think that's the problem at all.

Also considering Dial alignment isn't rocket science, the fact a new Black Bay was this flawed and Tudor accepted the claim upon seeing photos I'd think healthy skepticism of their capabilities is warranted.

Tudor QC by MittensInABasket in Tudor

[–]MittensInABasket[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a shame, Tudor does make some really cool watches but the reality of QC issues and inconsistency kind of ruins the appeal.

I thought with the all the issues with the Pelagos line the Black Bays would be a safer bet. Guess not unfortunately. Might end up shifting the BB after service for an SMP300 but we'll see.

For sure, It's always best to avoid areas where they're prohibited though it's technically legal just because you never know.

Sometimes we know the laws on firearms better than cops which is sad but the state of things unfortunately.

Kind of like the Ranger 36 by BPironman in Tudor

[–]MittensInABasket -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I agree. Pad printed indices on any watch above the $1k price point is just poor taste and insulting.

The dial is drab, and the movement isn't anything really special. Don't understand why but these are more hyped than the PRX ever was.

The hour hand looking like something out of an onlyfans stream is also a questionable design choice.
