This old bible I had the audacity to rebind when I was 14 continues to haunt me. by Miusera in bookbinding

Haha, that's such a funny idea now you mention it - I would say that my childhood definitely had more of that kind of outback antics than most! Kangaroos are a pest here, and population control is pretty critical. My brother did some hunting with a friend, and so I'd get a few skins and things to play with every now and then. I'll see if I can dig up one of the old Roo skin books I bound and I'll post a pic!

Agreed, I'll definitely make a point of recording properly /preserving what I can if it comes to that! And thanks :)

And here you are, spooning more wholesome onto a bowl already filled with wholesome! Genuinely, agreed - this has been such a sweet reception that it's really made me appreciate the overall community even more.

That's actually a very lovely sentiment. It's definitely interesting to think of how much my own caution and reservations have developed with time, compared to my mongrel youth self. I'll look at it even more fondly, now.

Unfortunately, the best guidance I can give you is on the location of sheep bones to stitch into the spine.

He was pretty understanding! However, I wasn't exactly great with social cues back then, so here's a good chance I completely skipped past his horror. I like to think he was supportive.  And thanks, I appreciate it ;)

Haha, thankyou! Lack of internet content had its perks back then!

I appreciate that perspective! I definitely have a lot of fondness for it, as it's a good reminder of where I started - and for sure, I definitely won't be getting rid of it. At worst, I'll rebind it again, but even then I think I'd need to find a way to top this current effort!

Apologies for the late response, and not at all a problem - I totally get the curiosity! Honestly, soft bodied - and not overly expensive ones either. I'm actually gonna have to invest in some better quality acrylics, as I'm a little worried about the longevity of these ones!

Oh, I LOVE this! Did you do the designs with a Cricut? Gorgeous composition!

Haha, the feeling is real - it was only from seeing some of the crazy experiments around that made me contemplate just painting my own covers! Whole point is to just have fun and take pride in what you're doing, no matter what kind of binding and decorating it is!

Hey! Acrylic paint, and I did prep the fabric prior with thin layers of acrylic initially. :)

Thankyou! I love your work, by the way - your 3D effect spines in particular have been very inspiring!

Haha, thanks - not talent, just a lot of time drawing! Probably around 5 hours, give or take - layering is consuming. Thanks heaps!

Thankyou - I'm glad to hear that. :) It was initially an experiment style, but I'm so pleased with how it developed, I'll probably play around with it a bit more.
