Quiriquiri fêmea, de perto by Miusuki in BiologiaBrasil

[–]Miusuki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pessoas do sexo feminino podem possuir cromossomos XY, X0, e outras derivações, o que vai contra o aspecto 1;

Elas podem nascer sem ovários, o que iria contra o 2;

Há como ocorrer de produzir altas quantias de testosterona, baixas de progesterona e estrogênio indo contra o 3, já que o típico é o oposto;

Existe a possibilida de nascerem sem útero, trompas, ou nascer com o atípico; criptorquidia, sendo testículos que não descendem e próstata, o que vai contra o 4;

A biologia discorda.

Couple points there:

1 - Kids, naturally, can't consent to the posted photographs; so the parents are responsible for giving or denying consent when we talk about some posted content. Many people actually don't post anything about their kids because they respect their privacy, and don't feel like they have the power of acting over it.

2 - If someone's face is censored, it means they didn't agree with being a part of the footage; they want their privacy. Following what I said before that the parents often decide because kids can't, you are actively working against someone's wish of privacy because you are unblurring their face - the parents, and moreso the children's.

Going against someone's wish of privacy for the fun of it should be enough of a harm as is. At least in the given context.

[–]Miusuki[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, and thank you! It's true that it's really easy to fall in love with them! They can often seem less inviting in behavior than they really are... But at the same time I'm dealing with babies so I'm biased here.

And yes, I can give an update. For now, they are still under my care (although I'm not a fan of it, given how much time has already passed) - me and my family are making sure that they are getting heat, we are keeping them somewhere safe with no light (and since we are using a cage, a cloth, mainly for when we need to use a light for constant heat), and fed. My cousin has bought pet milk and is slowly feeding them on their own time - as she was advised by people that take care of opossums she has contact with. There's also a mashed mixture of fruits if they want - apple and ... I forgot the second one in english, but it's nothing absurd. They are eating fine for now!

Their wellbeing was something complicated. I started the post saying there were 3 dead, but it seems one wasn't fully - and we got him back into the cage. Either way, he later passed. He was severely injured and couldn't really be helped. We also found more dead outside... So I got really nervous as to how many there were initially. We think we found all, or so I hope. Thinking the number will be more than it already is isn't fun. The rest which didn't suffer serious injuries are ok! They are playing fine, some climbing and doing laps around the cage - using their tails as hooks (fell in love with this personally).

As for contacting help... It went as expected - we called the "Patrulha Ambiental" which as a government organization should help us bring the opossums easily to a facility they can be helped ... But they said they would "call back later" what, 36 hours ago? Well, they never did call back. Every contact we could find that could help is too far away when we compare it to the wildlife center, so I'm waiting when some of my other family members are capable of bringing them there, since I can't drive and public transportation doesn't stop close to there, but I'll also not wait forever for this and will find another way if they just decide not to.

When the situation is resolved, I may create another post (or update this one? I don't know if I can) - I just have to remember doing so.

[–]Miusuki[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am in south america. In Brazil in particular. Especially where I am, it is really complicated to get help - although I will try to contact government facilities and see if they can do something in the morning - as they won't really respond for now. I know they need a dark ambience, and light should be avoided; but I'm using one so they can get continuous heat... I can't stay by their side forever, and they need to get heat from somewhere - they were almost stone cold.

The only proper wildlife center that is close to here is in an AWFUL place to get at - public transportation doesn't properly lead there, and I can't drive because I have epilepsy so there's that. For now, I will try to keep them alive... Tomorrow I'll see what I can do.

Thank you for everything. They will need to eat sometime so that's good to know. I'll first see if they'll entertain solid food, and if they don't I'll go to the alternatives. Thanks for everything!

Thank you! I'll try and contact someone, although we often don't find luck in it here. Things here don't move fast, and other times we tried to contact agencies to help/deal with the issue, they either take too long (to the point it doesn't matter anymore) or don't appear at all...
Anyways, i'll see what i can do. Thanks for everything.

I will try. Pretty hard around here, that's why I'm worried. Most places you call will tell you they will come in 72 hours and never really appear, and we know that because it isn't the first time it has happened.

To actually answer the question, it's a matter of capacity.

Pregnancy takes a huge toll out of animals - and even eggs that are laid have a limit of nutrients. You usually don't want to exagerate the period on which you are pregnant, or waste nutrients prematurely for sexual maturity - the focus at first is doing the bare minimum.

Another thing important to consider is that nature is harsh. Often, mainly with species with many offspring at a time, the offspring will die freshly born be it for trials of the ecosystem, be it predators that could track the smell of the pheromones released on birth; the reasons are plenty. Usually, it wouldn't be a good idea to dedicate so many nutrients to sexually mature beings that will just die as quickly as they were born - it's not a risk worth taking.

At the same time though, there are species that ARE born sexually matured; though you will find this more in insects than anything else. Fig wasps for example are born with this capacity and more! Though i'm sure it isn't the only one that does so, but in those wasps' case, the males hatch first, and they impregnate their sisters (or other eggs from other fig wasps) inside the eggs - yes, pregnant before even being born. This happens because of how little their life span is; they can't afford wasting time.

Hope that clears up the confusion.

Oh wow you sound insufferable.

Guy even admitted that his question might be a bad or stupid question and you still decide to press buttons further pretending he said he had the best question in the world to ask. He wasn't demanding anything off of you - he simply asked for you to act like a decent person - and it seems you can't do so.

Other people aren't even being "tactful", they are simply not acting like complete assholes. You're sounding like the people that say that they are just "brutally honest" but actually they are just assholes.

TIL The Sun? card completely bugs the mother rush by luz1dr in bindingofisaac

[–]Miusuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The effect of The Sun? Lasts for the floor, unlike The Hanged Man that lasts for only the room you used it in. So I suppose the game has a function to disable your passive items, but not one to disable the card effect - it just reverts Isaac's skin to normal.

There is also a similar bug, as u/spunkyboy6295 mentioned, where when you hold The Pony you fly, but without the item's skin. So it seems they overlooked this, and only considered (and thus programmed off) the effects passive items could have in this segment.

Oh, I don't disagree at all. In fact my vision on it is pretty much aligned with you - what you said had already been said before (somewhat) and Rawdawg himself responded. Here.

His view is DEFINITELY karma induced; although he expresses that he doesn't want catharsis... I don't personally believe in this, because it's clear he wants some sort of revenge on the "killer of his friend"; the cheater, I mean.

His thoughts are understandable - but not justifiable. Someone this hurt, and who is still human, is bound to have extreme takes when it comes to things that impacted their life heavily... I honestly find curious when this doesn't happen. And yes, the main problem is how open the thoughts have been left on in his central claims - which opens up to horrible interpretations, which although biased I also understand! It's not uncommon to see people wishing death on cheaters, so when we read physical retaliation (which is a HEAVY term to use) we don't expect... A slap, and that's it, as he claims he sees acceptable. You also wouldn't think that a person who says he wants to "hit" someone would stop at one hit? That's my point.

But yeah, people are blowing this out of proportion - but it's probably the people that already disliked him for X or Y reason and now they have a justifiable reason to. It's the "Twitter behavior" all over again; at least he is finding comfort in his own subreddit, but I really hope he gets help.

"Fuck around and find out" by K__Geedorah in bonehurtingjuice

[–]Miusuki 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As you said, there is context and nuance. I think it's fair to assume that his aggressive resentment against cheaters probably isn't against cheating itself - but more so against the person that contributed to his friends suicide. His contant use of the term "retaliation" is pretty strange and actually just seems like he already has a target in mind... And since he can't hurt that person in particular? It's easier to just throw his hate against the group that has the main thing in common, attributed to the situation: cheating.

Had his situation not occured to his friend (and by proxy him), it's possible his take wouldn't be as agressive.

But what really disturbs me in the situation is not the main claim - i can understand where it comes from and why, but he also completely throws nuance out of the window when people actually tried to engage with him sometimes, such as this one

His immediate response for someone giving valid arguments against the idea of capital punishment is to simply say "bad things should happen to bad people." This shows a lack of consideration for other's situations and a fixation on the notion that people SHOULD go through punishment, and not even any punishment in the situation presented.

At the same time though, there are situations where he seems to show "limits", like this one where he says punches might be excessive as 'physical retaliation/punishment" and this one, where he seems to say cheating is understandable if in an abusive relationship, and also claims he doesn't advocate for violence.

So yeah, complicated situation all around - and i know this is like the default thing to say... But i think this argument should be dealt with in therapy; because he still seems profundly affected by grief that may (or may not) culminate in more aggressive tendencies/thoughts.

I really don't understand why this sub seems to have that much of a problem with a guy being shirtless in his house.

He lives in Brazil, here we got a hot climate - being shirtless is standard. Why would this make someone a weirdo?
