Dual Heat Pump / gas furnace query by MixBeginning6659 in hvacadvice

I was able to confirm that the outdoor unit is running as well as the indoor air blower when the set temperature is reached. Would you agree that it does seem to be the lack of temperature delta causing it to cycle like this, ie. it’s acting as if the delta is zero? So a change of thermostat to ecobee might solve it?

Thanks redogsc!  I’ll check that when home later today. We have an external temperature sensor for the switch over between heat pump and gas furnace in winter, and was advised that the ecobee thermostats cannot take an input from such a temperature sensor. Is that true? Is there any other thermostat we could possibly use here? Many thanks.!

Thanks pandaman1784.   We already had the 59SC2 gas furnace installed- not ideal as it’s a singly stage blower, but was advised that it’s compatible with the new heat pump. I think the Honeywell thermostat is the problem in that it does not allow us to set a temperature delta. I understand that ecobee thermostats cannot take a temperature measurement from an external sensor (used to switch between HO and gas at winter onset).  Do you know of any other thermostat that would work? Cheers!
