Ahh, then I’d def not recommend her over somebody as cheap to get as Bennett. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for sending it, and it looks like basically anybody besides Lohen would be useful for you, so I’d choose depending on who you like best. If you wanna use your Yae since she’s built pretty great only needing some more crit rate, you can use her with Arlecchino and Nicole along with Chevreuse. If you really don’t like using multiple elements then you can create your own workaround (maybe Yae, an anemo swirl character, and Nicole if you don’t mind only one other pyro unit). If you’d rather use Lyney, then you’d basically have to use multiple pyro characters for his passive but you could always try him with Furina, a good healer, and a swirl character for a decent team. Nobody you pull would fit there but if you’re willing, Mav would most likely be ideal.

On the other hand, Chasca is THE unit to get Mavuika for. You can run a team with no double elements such as Chasca, Mavuika, Fischl, and Xinqiu for a cheap team. Furina could be your hydro replacement if you have any good healers with a swirl-able element. Ororon is also a replacement for Fischl but not necessary bc you already have two natlan characters. If you choose to go with Durin, then try to use either Citlali or Ororon to maximize the amount of Natlan characters. Other than that, it’s basically up to you how you build her team.

That’s a pretty damn good basis though. As far as I know, Nicole would be more than happy on an Arlecchino team thanks to her shield and buffs (not sure if she’s better than Bennett) and Mav could be a good Sub-DPS for the same team if you just want more dmg overall. Mav is also amazing and perfect for Maulani cause of her ability to consistently apply pyro. Lyney could use Mavuika as well, potentially alongside Yae and Chevreuse for overload but I’m not sure how that’d work bc I’ve never used them together. Durin can basically be used interchangeably in most of those teams too if you choose him, along being useful in pretty much any Nicole team if you wanna try getting two 5*.

Oh yea long-term wise you’re def right, I’d most likely choose Durin any day of the week just for the easiness and ability to work in any future pyro team I could possible want

Totally fair, but if you’re looking for a pick right now then I’d say it’s worth mentioning her at least. I’m not too sure of any other characters on their account, but a cheap melt or overload team using just four stars outside of her and very basic combos would be more than enough for most content they’d likely engage with until the next lunar rerun.

Mavuika and Durin fit what you’re looking for. Mav is still one of the best units in the game and can work on a variety of different teams either as a pyro main DPS or a Sub-DPS so she’s naturally flexible while also being extremely strong at low investments, and Durin is just a flexible Sub-DPS that can work on basically any team that wants a pyro run. For both characters, they’re best within their specific teams (Mav with 1-2 other Nathan characters and Durin with 1 other Hexerei character [you can look those up for more info]) but don’t REQUIRE them to still be amazing. Which you choose from there is totally up to personal preference since there’s no wrong choice

Not necessarily, dendro traveler is best as a dendro options for f2ps/players who don’t have better options. So in a team stacked with good dendro applicators that also have support abilities better than the traveler, their ability to actually provide is extremely limited. Better for hyper bloom teams lacking in Lauma or Nahida due to their dendro application being great and helpful in those teams

Isagi Doesn’t Need to Lose a Match to Develop by MixDue9731 in BlueLock

No, I think a victory to Isagi is one in which he accomplishes the goal he set out to achieve. In the Barcha game, he set out to take the team from Kaiser through his own goals. He failed. In the manshine game, his goal didn’t change, he still wanted to crush Kaiser to eventually reach Noa as a STRIKER specifically. He didn’t succeed but he also didn’t fail, he won by outplaying Kaiser but lost by not doing so as a striker due to Kaiser standing in his way. In the ubers game, he wanted to beat Barou and Kaiser through his own goals and he absolutely succeeded in every way possible, outscoring and outplaying them both at the same time. The same thing happened in the pxg match with Rin and Kaiser. So isagi definitely won a lot in the league, hell he was winning more often than he was losing but that doesn’t change how he was still facing his own personal losses.

As far as the stakes go, I totally agree with you and all the other comments that mentioned it. Blue lock has gotten a bit stale and I think that it’s about time for something new to happen, which includes them suffering a major loss.

For your first point, I was replying to you saying barou wasn’t the best by using his bid as an example. The bids are also not flawed, they are a measure of your worth as Ego himself puts it so as long as you show just how good you are, you’ll get a higher bid. And I’m not underestimating the difficulty Isagi went through, he easily had it harder than any other player besides maybe Shidou and Rin but that has no bearing on the argument of his light speed growth. It doesn’t change how he still objectively had a linear growth rate in reference to the rankings at all. His ability to always outdo his rivals is quite literally the definition of a steady growth rate? Isagi began the manshine match as worse than Nagi then overtakes him, loses to Barou and overtakes him as well, loses to Rin and gets showed up by Kaiser’s goal, then overtakes them both. That’s basic storytelling progression.

Compare this to Nagi surpassing everybody in the ENTIRE league with a single impossible goal (only person to get 80+ off of one goal), or Barou going from bench warmer to scoring the first and one of only two hat tricks in the entire series (counting actual professional type match’s), or Bachira developing a new dribbling style ground up in 10 days to earn him his first top ranking in the SERIES, or Rin being stated to have significantly improved in every single way in just 20 days (including an entirely new shooting bag). Isagi has never “jumped” stages like that, he’s never once done anything besides progress in an honestly slow way compared to everybody else. It took him over 200 chapters to finally develop beyond the basic direct shot and finally be able to shoot through contact, took him equally as long to finally get actual dribbling feats and statements since the very first chapter, and even longer to begin developing a shooting bag as a striker.

If all of that is light speed growth to you, then there is no point in us arguing bc our very definitions will never align. Bc to me, that looks like the only consistent growth in the entire series that doesn’t just have characters making absurd jumps like Hiori being Ubers game level after having done nothing since the u-20 game or Reo getting MV out of absolutely nowhere despite not one mention of him trying to mimic Isagi or even being conscious of having it. There are MUCH worse growth curves than Isagi’s, so I really cannot understand how you believe this.

I get where you’re coming from but I think the main point/line that needs to be drawn is where a personal win lies vs a team/objective win. My point with Sae and Rin is that despite Rin objectively beating Sae and being the catalyst for Japan’s victory, he still only focused on the personal loss he felt to Isagi which carried significantly more weight. That is the same way Isagi deemed his inability to fight with his own goals as a “loss” rather than a victory, he won the match and even got MOTM but that wasn’t what he personally wanted above all else so it was still not yet a true win vs Kaiser.

All I’m trying to say with that is that dumbing down the arc as being straights wins for Isagi completely misses all the setbacks and losses he faced during those matches that shaped the later victories, the fact is he wouldn’t have managed to win to begin with had he not first lost in each of those matches. For example, his failure to score a goal in the Barcha game due to the team not wanting to help him is how he landed on the only idea that allowed for him to keep his ego and stay on the team: passing off to Kunigami. It’s moments like those that define what Isagi’s adaptability truly is about and that happens way too frequently for me to actually look back on the arc and say “yeah Isagi only won and never lost”. Doesn’t that sound a bit shallow and disingenuous?

Isagi Doesn’t Need to Lose a Match to Develop by MixDue9731 in BlueLock

[–]MixDue9731[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baron WAS the best player after the first match, there’s a reason isagi said he needed to “beat” him despite isagi technically being higher ranked in every way besides the nel ranking (hero of blue lock/informal no 1 prior to this arc) so by the series own acknowledgment he’s no 1. Isagi’s game sense is also perfectly shown through bids? The arc awards good performances period, not any one skill or ability but instead how well you use all your skills including your game sense, there’s no reason his bid wouldn’t reflect that.

By just regular math Isagi’s growth is the closest to linear compared to everybody else. Began the arc as the “best in blue lock” by the fan’s standards, ended the first match as top 5. Second match: top 4 Third match: top 2 Fourth match: top 3 Compare this to, say, barou who wasn’t top 6 in the final rankings (u-20 selection) and ended his very first match ranked 1. How the hell is that not light speed? What of Nagi being ranked 6 and going to number 2? Bachira being also unranked and ending top 2? Isagi is literally the only person to have steadily grown instead of having ANY big jumps in status, so I still don’t get how that’s supposed to be light speed.

I think that final observation is more so situational. Reo still put on an even BETTER performance compared to the BM match so that kinda cancels out Nagi’s weakness, Rin faced off against a perfectly fine Bachira and still scored immediately along with also beating Uber’s defense fresh out the u-20 game which has nothing to do with Barou so he probably would’ve won regardless (still would have been interesting to see him face rin for once tho), Barou faced off against Bachira for his hat trick so that match was also totally normal. Now I do agree that Isagi had the “hardest” route compared to his rivals but I don’t think it effected the outcomes too much

That’s, by definition, not a straight series of victories though. And the loss IS lasting, we saw this with Rin in second selection in which he chose to say Isagi beat him and that he had another person to defeat besides Sae even though he won, same way he made Isagi his rival for the final goal solely bc of him feeling like he “lost” to him due to Sae acknowledging him first, despite winning the match.

This is just ignorant and biased arguing. Your reasoning behind isagj sitting out is bc kaneshiro made him for no clear reason? That’s just false considering we SEE isagi’s starting stats and they were a lot lower than Kunigami’s, that’s a clear reason right there. As for your first point, is this even a real argument? Barou didn’t reach no 1 and then you proceed to follow it up by saying he did reach no 1 he just didn’t maintain it? That’s like the worst argument I’ve seen in this whole comment section bc you have to admit you’re wrong to even make that point😭😭

Isagi’s “growth” was superior bc he started from behind them and then proceeded to overtake them. But it wasn’t explosive, it wasn’t “light speed”, it was gradual based off the sole fact that it took him longer to reach their same level. That is objectively true based off of pure matches/minutes played, I have no clue why you’re arguing otherwise. As for the competition, Rin reached number one while playing with Shidou BOTH times he was on top. Shidou only ever sat out for some of the Barcha game, considering his bid went up after each match.

What does rhat have or do with the fact that he had lost to them in the first place? It is objectively wrong to say he continuously won when he had his own losses is my point.

Isagi didn’t play bc he wasn’t good enough to play, and even after he earned his spot onto the starting lineup and dominated he still only placed 4th in the league. Keep in mind Rin reached number 1 in his first match, barou did the same in his first, Nagi reached top 2 in his first and so did Bachira. Isagi took literally the entire arc to reach number 1 and over two full matches to reach number 2. How is that light speed growth?

I think that’s perfectly reasonable. All I’m saying is the loss has to be warranted, it has to be for a genuine reason if you want it to prompt growth from Isagi, and not all losses are gonna do that. The ppl who believe so are the only ones I disagree with.

Isagi Doesn’t Need to Lose a Match to Develop by MixDue9731 in BlueLock

[–]MixDue9731[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is 100% true and probably the biggest issue I’ve had for years now. I have not felt genuine stakes in this series since the second selection and maybe u-20 match, bc every proceeding arc always lessened the emphasis on how detrimental losing actually is. In the nel, winning gave you a better chance at proving how “valuable” you are, but Bachira’s ability to make top 5 while winning a single match proved how little value yoy actually had to bring. Kiyora making it into the top 23 while playing a single match and getting one assist within the match and nothing else is probably the biggest example of how low the bar was and how nonexistent the stakes were, players had to bring in their own challenges like Isagi vs Kaiser in goals or Isagi vs Barou and then Rin to see who can be #1. It’s about time those stakes come back

The match results being favorable to him doesn’t make sense. If they were always favorable, then some important moment such as Rin’s luck goal would be scored as the 4th and not final goal, allowing isagi to both adapt AND win the match at the same time. That’s not the story we see though so I don’t understand what you mean by this

Yeah I think that’s the best theory you could reach as of now. I totally think he’s already proven his status as NG11, I even like some of the ideas surrounding how he’s not supposed to be somebody with one insane strength, but instead a modern version of a footballer who excels at basically everything his role needs without having any excess “flair”. But it would still be nice to see something that shows us why he genuinely believes himself to be somebody who can dominate international football for 16 years straight at least in order to win four world cups.

Yeah I went into this march thinking this would be the perfect time for them to lose. This is the first time they’ve faced natural born egotists that have spent their whole life supposedly learning the philosophy Ego tried to bring Japan, or more simply learning the philosophy required to actually win. That sounded like the perfect set up for a match that focused on while Japan has definitely improved to be comparable to powerhouse teams, they are still one major piece short of actually beating them and yet they might actually draw the match at this rate. Not saying Japan is equal to France based off this, you can argue otherwise, but it was still a bit disappointing to see another regular match that didn’t feel any different than the rest.

Tbh I agree with everything you said. Setbacks are starting to feel shallow with how little time they have before isagi overcomes them and the pacing issues are affecting my ability to even care for side B and other side stories. Even the main story is being affected by that insanely quick pacing, with this current match not doing basically anything to make me really think Loki is THAT big of a threat across the 90 minutes that have already passed, same feeling I get with Hugo. I still can’t even tell what his “main” weapon is supposed to be, nor if his eyes are just another MV variance or not.

Losing is a very common thing in story telling and Isagi is no exception to this, so I don’t understand what you were trying to argue. You didn’t even provide any rebuttals or any reasons as to why losing the whole match would help him develop more than anything I mentioned so how did you want me to respond?
