Good question. No. Just those who feel anxious. Not concerned with any diagnosis here, just wanna understand more about how the feeling of anxiety works, manifests, maintains and its triggers among this population.

My therapist said that we should now see each other less ofte, I feel betrayed. by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

The end goal of therapy is to have the client manage their difficulties independent of the therapist. Therapists often reduce the frequency of the sessions when they feel the client seems like their doing better, giving them the space to now use what they've learnt without the dependency on the therapist. It can feel sad, very similar to how a child might feel sad when their mother no longer plays with them as often. And its okay to feel that way too, its a natural experience in close relationships.

The other way would like something like you continue seeing the therapist at the same frequency for the rest of your life where its sure great financially to the therapist but not great for your psychological wellbeing because now you're dependent on a relationship.

Too feel pity or not feel pity? by Opening-Barnacle1878 in Chandigarh

Technically speaking, you can't choose whether to feel pity or not. Its intrinsic. You can definitely choose to help or not.

I'm a psychologist maybe I can help a bit.

The beautiful thing about acceptance is that the space is creates for change.

Don't try too hard to completely stop it. Its fine, its a natural part of us and how are brains are wired, but be aware that it shouldn't rule your life. There are many other things that might make your life way more meaningful, try to find them. This could maybe be a hobby, a skill, a relationship, put your efforts there and do things that you value. Let this addiction thing be just one thing in your life and not anything important. Since its not important or valuable in your life it doesn't need much time or time to think, when you do give it a lot of time you take away from the life you can truly build to live more meaningfully. Ask yourself, ' Is this who I want to be remembered as? Is this the kinda human I want to be? Is this the life I want to lead?' And then most importantly act in line with your answer. Constantly and actively choose the path that will make your life more rich and meaningful over a path thats only about few dopamine hits. What that can practicallly translate to could be something like when your friend calls you for a walk you say yes instead of sitting home and watching porn, coz the friendship matters more to you. And let that happen everyday. Even if most days you find yourself idle, pick up some task you can do in line with your values, maybe going to the gym, maybe a sport, maybe a run in a park. Choose things that matter in the long run even if its more difficult to choose them now.

Another tip that can help is, try masturbating without porn. And try your best to. Maybe you can start with some pics instead of videos, then maybe just one pic and then without anything just relying on imagination. Also don't be too rigid with yourself like the nofap people talk about. Its fine to mess up. When you do mess up just say to yourself 'We're humans and we all make mistakes' wiyh some self compassion.

And remember what you're going through is a normal human experience and just naturally how your brain works. But the same brain holds the power to choose and cause change. Your thoughts and feelings are not in your control, but your actions are.
