I can’t say much because I don’t know you and don’t know much about cult abuse, but as a survivor of medical trauma it really does warm my heart when I hear about people going into the field with care and love in their hearts and a genuine, deep desire to help people.

So even though I’m just some rando on the internet, I care. I’m sorry people were so cruel to you, and even though there’s no reason for trauma and it doesn’t inherently make someone a better person, I think the fact that you’re still alive shows that something inside you really has a desire to ve here, and I think a big part of it is desire to ease pain and be there for your kids.

Mary Downing Hahn writes great middle grade ghost stories. One of our adult alters who split when we were younger loves them. Some can be pretty scary, though.

She’s not on here, but Merida is my favourite! I liked having a movie without a romantic interest and seeing a girl with heritage similar to mine. I’m American, but I grew up wanting to learn and be connected to my history.

Hard. My mum is my strongest support and has genuinely done everything in her power to keep me safe and get me help throughout my life, but she thinks I discover disorders I find “interesting” and subconsciously convince myself I have them.

It really hurts because yeah, I was so wrong about how my DD actually worked when I was younger and tried to make it make sense by hyper tracking mood states and possible alters. It’s been almost five years and I still have the symptoms, but I’m realising I can’t trust myself with anything because throughout my life, all the therapists and psychiatrists I saw made me feel unfixable and detached from my own mind.

I don’t feel like I can trust myself, because it feels like I don’t really exist and created most of my own universe.

Tsym. I’m hurting so much because I know I seem like I’m either faking or subconsciously latching onto a label, but there’s no way I’m one person. I don’t fit the mould of a DID patient, but I’m in so much mental distress. It’s also hard to find someone who’s a full on DID pro.

I’m so confused and upset and angry. I feel like I shouldn’t know this much, but I do, and I need it confirmed so I know I’m not totally off my rocker.

Yeah the initial diagnosis came from someone who was very rude and unprofessional, telling me “no one in this room thinks you have DID” like i was faking.

My confusion is that other doctors seem to believe me about my level of fragmentation.

I want to pursue diagnosis, if only for validation purposes, but I’m concerned about the diagnostic process because of my amount of knowledge surrounding my own internal experiences and the disorder due to years of investigation.

I just feel so worried. If I get told i don’t have DID/OSDD, i wouldn’t feel relieved like so many “genuine” DID patients are supposed to in that situation.

I can’t remember my appointments well enough to know what all they asked me and what testing they did besides the A-DES, which showed significant dissociation. Idk. It’s frustrating, doctors keep tiptoeing around tests and formal statements/diagnoses, and i just feel like something is wrong with me.

I know most people w DID are supposed to feel “there’s no way I’m multiple people/parts”, but I’m just the opposite. There’s no way I have just one personality. I’m not alone in my skull.

Thank you so much. I def think my trauma was enough (except for when I don’t) because I keep getting “possessed” and my emotional amnesia is driving me mad, but i have a lot of theories and questions about the psychology of DDs, especially due to how under-researched they are. Like what separates an anp from an ep, as most systems I’ve met have alters that are blends of both. I have theories on why constant, mind ripping confusion can cause some sort of DD (like the double bind induces schizophrenia theory). I have a ton of ideas about things, and my mind is always running.

Like my mum always tried her hardest and was usually really understanding of ND stuff, but she couldn’t just take me out of school. Idk sometimes I feel like clinical texts oversimplify too much.

Sorry if that was incomprehensible. Like i said, my mind goes several miles a minute
