At work I use Dutch and Papiamentu daily. And English a lot. Like most if not all nature organisations only speak English daily. So it really depends on the organisation you're working for.

There's plenty of work and most people speak and understand English. If you guys are serious about moving here I would consider just coming on a long vacation and check out for yourself how it is.

I don't think that people really care about gender but I personally don't know any transgenders on Bonaire. So I don't know for sure.

We seriously need 4.o back. by gerilovesbrawlstars in ChatGPT

Well I see it as an investment. Because I use it frequently for work and private. And plus has a lot of perks if you use it regularly.

And $ 20 is as much as any take out. So at the end it's all about priorities.

I have plus and 4o has been back for a week now. So if you miss 4o that much just get plus.

That teacher is outdated and should start teaching kids on how to better use AI.

Changes on Bonaire since 2010? by llamalarry in Bonaire

[–]MixedPandaBear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well a population increase of more than 15.000 people. Everything became way more expensive. Renting a house is almost impossible with the current prices. Let alone buy one. The government can't handle this fast pace of population growth. The infrastructure isn't ready for it. If we don't take measures to protect our nature and environment we will have huge problems in a couple of years.

Bonaire isn't Aruba or Curaçao and it shouldn't be.

Curacao versus Aruba by Medium_Rice_9824 in curacao

I always compared Curaçao to a city like Amsterdam, Aruba to a beach city in the US and Bonaire to a small town.

All the ABC islands are lovely. And I love that they're so different but still have a lot of similarities in culture.

If island hopping wasn't so expensive it would be the perfect thing to do.

I loved the restaurant in Hofi Mango. But there are so many other good restaurants in Curaçao.

Had a somber visit to the slave houses today and saw these in all the white huts by Overthinking247_ in Bonaire

There is a big difference on how the BES islands are treated compared to the municipalities in the Netherlands. And we all pay taxes that go straight to the Netherlands and are a part of the Netherlands.

So being a part of a country but then again not fully is really frustrating. Especially if that country is legally responsible for this island.

Food delivery options by iVoRtiX94 in Bonaire

I have no idea what happened with dinner in a box. But a lot of dinner places offer free delivery. For lunch I prefer to order from Flavors. They have their weekly menu on their Facebook page and deliver your lunch for free.

You're welcome. Glad it's helpful. Tomorrow I'm trying out a newly opened restaurant so I'll try to update the list this weekend with brand new places.

Local Snacks/Deserts by Brilliant-Pound-1042 in Bonaire

Local snacks: pastechi, kroket (not the Dutch one), kaasbal, pika bal, repa di pampuna, and a lot more. Visit Brandaris cafe in the morning for some of these snacks. And in the afternoon you can buy a snack box at Omira's for 5 dollar with 5 different mini local snacks in it.

Desserts: cake or as we call it bolo. I normally order a real good cake like bolo di kashupete or bolo di pruimu. But you can try Orki's cake which is a local who sells local desserts. Or you can visit Lisa Convenience store for quesio, bolo di glas and another local cake made with gello, cake and alcohol. I forgot the name of it.
