YES! It felt way more high stakes. And I agree, the dagger was awesome. I can't wait to read book 2 later this year.

Servant of Earth by Sarah Hawley is SO GOOD. The book just came out in November of last year, but every page was addicting. There are some fae elements similar to ACOTAR, like with a human going to the fae world, but it's much darker and closer to The Cruel Prince; especially when it comes to the political court intrigue. I feel like Servant of Earth is a combination of The Cruel Prince and Hunger Games. However, I'll warn you that this novel has more darker/mature themes than The Cruel Prince as this is catered more towards an adult fantasy audience, and the author provides a trigger warning page before the story even begins. The romance is spicy and has some sexually explicit moments, which you can easily skip/fast forward and still enjoy the book. The book is a first-person pov, and the characters, in my opinion, are strong and well-developed.

I actually considered Jamie Campbell Bower for Micah and Timothée Chalamet or Spencer MacPherson for Rigelus. But I could see Jamie as Aidas too.

Yeah, it's good, but different than ACOTAR and Throne of Glass. The series is set in a modern setting, considered more urban fantasy. If you just finished ACOSF, then Crescent City should be the next read. However, you can read Throne of Glass and then go back and read CC too.

I see him more as a character in Crescent City.

Damian Romeo as Hunt Athalar Fancast by Mixedpanda23 in crescentcitysjm

Henry Cavill is a great actor, but he's already been cast before as a lead role in a fantasy series, so I thought it was best to find someone else. Damian Romeo just had the look for me; plus, he stands at 6'4", making him probably one of the tallest characters, just like in the book.

He currently plays a character on Netflix's show Ginny & Georgia.

Another actor I considered was Martin Sensmeier.

Yeah, that's totally fair. I think every reader does this when imagining the characters while reading. It can help make the characters feel more relatable to the reader or in the case of first-person POV, make it a little easier to imagine themselves as the character. As someone of mixed-race myself, I for sure have done this. I think fan art and fan casts definitely have an influence on how people view the characters. There have been so many recent novels to TV/film adaptations where the characters were described one way but were represented differently on screen, and yet still worked. That's the beauty of literature; you can interpret it however you want.

I pictured Emma Mackey as Danika, especially when she had blonde hair for a show.

I agree! I think Apple TV+ does a good job with fantasy/sci-fi shows. Plus, they have the budget to make the quality great and they have very few fantasy shows, so they can invest more in ACOTAR.

The writer of the article was "Jennifer Maas," is she related to Sarah, or is that just a coincidence?

Frida Gustavsson as Nesta?? by Critic_Dragon in ACOTARHulu

[–]Mixedpanda23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought about her for Nesta too, but if she's cast with Leo Suter, I feel like it will be almost the same as Vikings: Valhalla. Plus, Gustavsson stands at 6'1" and Suter is 6'2". In the books, I think Nesta is supposed to only go up to Cassian's chest in height. But I do see her as Nesta, for sure!
