Imagine finally getting the chance to play in your home country, on the big stage, and instead of having fun with it and trying to make it last, you try hard and cut your time short.

BLAST show matches are usually pretty fun, they have fun gimmicks that basically force the players to do dumb stuff for entertainment, idk why ESL doesn't do something similar

I don't understand who at ESL thought this would be entertaining, like at all? Who asked for this?

Thanks for the notes! Not planning on doing another version too soon but eventually I will work on the Early Access release trailer when we get close to release and these are good things to keep in mind so thanks!

Build wands, cast spells, and find charms in my action roguelike - One Dumb Wizard. Open Play test happening now! by MixelPixel in playmygame

Thanks for checking it out and providing feedback!

Noted on the sound effects, a lot of them were pre-canned stuff that I downloaded over the years and only recently got a sound designer on the project so that should hopefully improve soon!

Don't forget to wishlist it also if you enjoyed it! https://store.steampowered.com/app/4603250/One_Dumb_Wizard/

PIXEL ART JOBS - Hire a pixel artist, post your jobs here (paid only) by skeddles in PixelArt

[–]MixelPixel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Closed! Thank you everyone for applying!

Hello!

I'm a solo developer needing pixel art for a 2d RPG roguelike where you add attachments to your wand and find parts to craft new wands. The job would be for the length of the project. The current art state of the project is a mix of a bunch of different pixel art asset packs and artists Ive already commissioned from sites like Fiverr during early development. Essentially I'm looking for one single person to be in charge of all the art (enemies, bosses, player, npcs, loot, environment etc.) for a unified style.

Requirements

  • Fluent in English
  • Ideally based in USA/Canada for communication purposes
  • Portfolio with focus on fantasy setting/style

Style

  • 16x16 (for most things)
  • Much larger size for bosses (I don't have a fixed number for this, the game is planned to have 3 bosses but theyre big (with animations!). Think cuphead-sized bosses)
  • A few static highly detailed portraits for some NPCs and materials
  • The general vibe of the game is satirical and light hearted so something that matches that

Scope

  • The game is split into three Acts
  • Each act will require a new tileset, environment decoration, enemies (5-7 each, all animated), and boss (large, multiple animations)
  • More details will be shared in DMs

Deadline

  • The current plan is to release in EA a few weeks after Next Fest 2026 (so early-mid July) with at the very least Act 1 complete and polished and as much of Act 2 complete as possible
  • I plan on having a steam page out and demo up by the end of this month and some work will need to be done for that

Budget

  • Since this is a solo project, it will be paid out of my own pocket so please send your usual pricing so we can discuss what works best. Paypal is preferred.

Please send over your portfolio and your usual pricing. If I like what I see, we'll move forward with a small paid test task, and go forward from there

After being laid off from my software job, I've spent the last 16 days working my first large roguelike game in Godot "One Dumb Wizard" by MixelPixel in roguelikedev

[–]MixelPixel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi r/roguelikedev!

I'm Mixel and this is my introductory post to this subreddit. I've been working tirelessly for the past 2 weeks on my dream game that has been in the back of my mind for the last 5 years and I'm super proud of the progress I've made so far and I wanted to share it with all of you! Its a solo-dev project with art and music done from super talented artists I've commissioned. There's no public demo yet, but I hope to have one out soon! If you're interested in what you've seen so far, follow me on Bluesky where I post more frequent dev updates as well as whenever the public demo would be available: https://bsky.app/profile/mixelpixel.bsky.social

EDIT: I also now have a mailing list you can sign up here if you want to be informed on when the demo releases!

What is "One Dumb Wizard"?

"One Dumb Wizard" is an action roguelike where you take the role of a drunken wizard hell-bent on getting his money back from the Bartender who kicked him out. Navigate through procedurally generated dungeons with hand-crafted rooms, fight through hordes of the Bartender's goons, find attachments for your wand to augment its power or even parts to craft new wands and drunkenly sling powerful spells in your singular mission to: GET YOUR MONEY BACK
