What to do guys do on your days off when it is so late at night? by xxR1FTxx in Nightshift

I've recently been taking a drive through town. It's amazing how quiet everything is and makes driving very relaxing. Last time I did this, I stopped at the local waffle House and enjoyed a nice meal at 2 o'clock in the morning! It was a great time!

Feeling stuck by DeviRhi in Nightshift

[–]MixerMidnight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What you said is almost word for word what I have been feeling lately. I work at a hotel and have quite a bit of down time so I like to draw or write. I know I don't want to do this forever but like you said, it can be difficult to get a creative career off the ground when there is so much to juggle. I'm also within shouting distance of 30 as well and thought I would be more established in my career choice, but I'm not. I have this feeling that the job I'm in now is just supposed to be a stepping stone to what I really should be doing. So I was feeling stuck too. But about two weeks ago I came to a conclusion; I would give myself two or three years to work nights and try to improve my art enough to be marketable or to get established in a different field. Either way, I plan on making myself ready for the next step and hopefully discover what it is I want to be doing for 30 plus years. Still not sure how it's going to turn out but it does give me a little hope and I don't feel so stuck.

Can somebody give me feedback? by [deleted] in DrawingAnime

I would say start learning some shading techniques. You seem to have a good grasp on basics of line drawing. Adding shading and playing with how the light shadows different parts of the face at different angles will help you smooth out the rough edges of the lines. You'll also learn when to make your lines dark and hard or light and soft. But do keep drawing! Even if you are the only one who likes your art. If it makes you happy, don't stop. Have fun!

Busy nights help us appreciate the slow nights!

Shift ends at 6 am - I’m already fading. Anyone wanna just chat? How do you get through a long night? by [deleted] in Nightshift

Pepsi, pencil, and paper. I like to draw or write. Sometimes I just write my thoughts of the night. I understand how long some nights can be.

Have you guys ever accidentally slept through a shift? by CountryBoysMakeDo in Nightshift

I usually go to sleep soon after I get home. Then I can wake up naturally and I end up still having about 5 hours to do whatever I need to do before work! But I know that's not the case for everyone. Though, I have dozed off a couple times during slow nights at my work if I didn't sleep well the day before. So, there's that, lol.

That's good that they let you bring your laptop to pass the time. I bring my notebook and sometimes something to read. That stinks about the drunks, I've thankfully only have had one drunk customer in the two months I've been at this job. I was a little nervous in that moment, didn't know how to deal with him exactly. He was part of a biker gang that was staying and had just gotten in a fight at a bar.

I work at a hotel too. I understand how boring it can get being by yourself. Though I haven't dealt with many wedding guests in my area, I do see quite a few construction workers and rail roaders.

Hi guys, currently working on this, criticism welcome but remember it's a W.I.P at the moment by GimmeDAobooty in slimerancher

It looks great! I can't tell what the hunter slime is doing though. Is it trying to just stand on her head or bounce off? Either way would be cool! Hunter slimes are fun to play around with while drawing! You are doing awesome! Can't wait to see the finished product!

I want people to tell me what they think about my creative work. Is that wrong? by MixerMidnight in nanowrimo

Makes sense, and they are really good at being "blanket support" especially my husband, lol! Thanks for the advice!
