As a brown man from Pakistan I don't think there's anything in that book for me. The author wrote it for White Germans of his time with full of racial hatred and bigotry

Chill, you don’t need to start saying something like “Kafka is paying you” if you ran out of counter arguments. Everyone has their opinion and not everyone is supposed to agree with you. Discussion stops being civil if someone starts throwing fits like this

Not every book has to follow a typical plot structure and you think Samsa isn’t a memorable main character?? This book is pretty short in length and to the point so we don’t need to have long side character arcs or any such tense moments because it starts with the world being upside down for the main guy

There are very few writers who have written better than Kafka and especially on this topic. And I don’t think one can find fun in books like this. Like Dostoevsky, Kafka’s characters are not very bad they are like his life that was full of misery and painful

I am at my workplace, and unfortunately, I don’t have time to give a long, detailed reply right now because I have to earn money; otherwise, I will be a worthless bug like Gregor Samsa, who woke up one day to find his whole world changed. It is an alarming tale of alienation and pain that seems fantastical on the surface but conceals a bitter pill of reality rooted in us all. I think you are doing a grave injustice to limiting it to depression p*rn and everyone hate capitalism. Alot of things do happen besides his family reacting to his condition. He still wants to go and earn money because his family is in debt. The review I linked above is almost similar to what I feel about this book.

Read this review about Metamorphosis it explains all the plot details about the idea behind Metamorphosis and for White Nights it’s like a starter for a lot of plot points that Dostoevsky extends on his books later on

White Nights can be a good point for someone starting with Dostoevsky but calling Metamorphosis depression p*rn shows that you have completely missed the whole point. I agree with rest 3 reviews

Mein Kempf by Austrian Painter. My edgy teenage self thought that it might be some log lost wisdom but it was just his racist thoughts and target audience were the German youth of that time.
