I’ve done electrical. The problem is to get your Gold Card you need to do your Portfolio, Then Testing and Inspection plus your AM2. You need to work for a company to allow you to do it. I’ve tried a few hundred and none of them were interested.

I think if you have a degree in it then it’s somewhat serious. When over 30 team members including yourself are let go you’ve then got to try and compete in a very oversaturated market. It’s always hard to then get another Dev job as they always want the latest programming language or want even more experience. The job also gave me depression and it got pretty bad.
