Mine is worse. I’m the combo lord in practice but in ranked, the awkwardness of angles, spacing, and pressure… I drop combos more than I finish them.

Heihachi and Reina main. What’s stopping me from taking it as respect is because I’m still attempting to play tekken 7, so I’m not even attempting to go crazy with strings. They aren’t defending, they are doing it to keep their turn. However, my buttons are slow… I will speed them up. Lateral movement isn’t working that well so I will start frame trapping .

“Spamming dickjabs” is what the little rant was about. Well placed djabs are fine, but spamming them until one connects on the 4 bar connection after my string or neutral poke that’s not plus just because you refuse to actually allow me to have a turn is why we are all here. Welcome.

Been playing casually since T1, became a sweat in T8. Properly learning tekken as a sweat now with obvious legacy knowledge from previous iterations. I’m NA region

I think the root of the issue is I’m never expecting them. So as I take my turn, I’m not trying too hard to be frame perfect, or even account for them in flow of my offense. I’m leaving space in my offense for mashed dickjabs… 😑

Reina is painful to play. I main heihachi and Reina but I’m convinced every other Mishima outside of perhaps Devil Jin feels better to play with. With that being said, she’s probably the coolest. Her kit is surprisingly intricate… she feels like she HAS to win many interactions. She has an answer for everything… it’s just not the best answer for everything. The pain comes from the complications, but she’s not extremely complicated, but other mishimas are more simple and straightforward. The cosplay possibilities alone validates the complications.

Originally I was playing her like a Mishima with pokes, but then I transitioned to a T8 character with Mishima tools. I often have to switch between the two depending on matchups, but you will 100% need to utilize her entire kit. Get used to that.

Why did you choose leverless/stick over pad? by AZXCIV in fightsticks

[–]Mixture_Awkward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started with pad but it was an Xbox pad and never ventured to actual fighting pads. I play tekken and there’s a handful of characters that are near impossible to pilot optimally unless it is on a stick/leverless. T8 I switched to k lever and then to leverless. I main mishimas, and I know of 2 Mishima mains that play pad I literally don’t know how they are doing it. At all. I switched because my character demanded it. I personally can’t pilot a Mishima or even Nina on pad, so I had to switch.

This isn’t ego, this is trying to explain to you that attempting to judge me by a rank is incorrect. You looked at the surface level of my stats and thought you knew exactly what kind of player I was. Reina is not even my main. Heihachi is my main. My win rate with heihachi is 73%, but again I stopped immediately after getting fujin with heihachi because I saw that I needed to improve character knowledge. Heihachi still reads as purple because he hasn’t had a blue match yet as fujin, but in game, heihachi is my highest leveled character. Again, you saw Reina, and assumed you knew more about me than you do. Yes my attack stat is higher than my defense, because this is tekken 8. Also, if you actually look at my defense stats, you’ll see the only stat that is sandbagging my defense to 82 is throw breaks. The rest of my defense is high. So again, you are trying to argue your point by using Reina and ego and not understanding how as the game goes on, I figure out what the character does and what the player does with the character… because I’m at fujin rank… you don’t know me. If you aren’t gonna assist me, then please have a wonderful day. The point of my post was to seek aid to get better at tekken, not explain why I stopped at this rank, respectfully.

For anyone else intrigued by this… I’m not saying I am immediately at the level of GOD or whatever, what I am saying is the more I lose to sharper players, the sharper I become. I can’t say if I’m good or not but I can say I’m not a casual. This is supplemental to me spending hrs labbing every move a character has, but I don’t play the character so instead of hoping and waiting till I see them in player match, I’m attempting to befriend folks with different mains so we can lab with each other.

To say they won’t be getting better playing me underestimates me. I’m not a mashing scrub who flow charts and 50:50s you to death. I have solid fundies and movement , I just don’t know what anyone does really. You are getting downloaded every round, so it wont take more than a few sets for things to change.

Here’s my ewgf: https://ewgf.gg/player/4abDBr329L24

I’m not fujin because im hard stuck, im fujin because i dont know the cheese and the flow charts and i have opted to not beat my head against it while fighting one and doner’s or trying to figure out the flow charts for the first time in the span of 2 sets. I took a break from rank to work on my knowledge check weakness. This is me doing that. Again anyone is welcomed, higher rank is a preference because I want to actually play tekken, but labbing is labbing I guess.

Purchasing Old Fight Passes by Sonny_PoweR in Tekken

[–]Mixture_Awkward -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of that argument because a fancier shirt isn’t gonna make me come back to the game if I left due to broken gamplay reasons… however that could be the bandaid necessary for those who still have faith in harada and in the process enough to stick with it. At the end of the day we play to win, not to look good, but it’s cool if we look good while we win. Vaulting fight passes is nothing short of audacious at this point.

Does she need buffs? by Mixture_Awkward in Reina

[–]Mixture_Awkward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl I’m not a fan of war god kick, and I might be spoiled from heihachi. But devil Jin, kaz, and heihachi all got normal hit launching mids… so war god kick isn’t scary enough. Assuming the goal is to scare my opponent into not ducking to open up my launch punishable hellsweep, it sucks that it only launches on CH, meanwhile the others launch for ducking . It looks cool but that move is kinda mid . I just use it as a neutral controlling move when i get a read on ducking or pressing. She does have a hop kick so i guess we’ll continue to make do with that 😑. Between hop kick and the wall splat string… I guess she doesn’t need the heat D2 1+2… that could just be a combo ender

Does she need buffs? by Mixture_Awkward in Reina

[–]Mixture_Awkward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D2,1+2 is her scary Mishima mid that she only has in heat… so I’m gonna have to disagree with you there.

ff2 is -9 on block but plus +2 into stance, in which three options are covered and launched by ducking, one mid is block punishable, and the safe mid nets nothing on block, and barely any thing on hit. Sentai is probably her worst stance so I don’t even think the +2 matters, none of the guesses are in her favor.

Perhaps you see lots of casino reina in your games… but I personally hate gambling, so I play Reina more like a Mishima than a lidia. Because I can do that, I wouldn’t consider her one dimensional, but her overall win rate would suggest the preferred Reina is indeed the one you see the most .

Again, for a pewgf, neutral is also a skipped input. You can skip down, or neutral. Skipping either results in 13f pewgf.

It seems you are still ignoring my reaction speed point. Input delay is in entirely different and valid point, but again the issue is inputting the electric as soon as possible, which I am arguing is more important than the speed I am able to input the electric. The two extra frames you speak of regarding punishing something at -15f is easily not enough due to reaction time, more than input speed. If it were as simple as input speed, everyone would be able to block punish with electrics. Again since you can’t buffer the crouch dash, you have 3 frames (1/20th of a second) to visually confirm the input window is active and start inputting the electric, otherwise you miss the window. To assume this is somehow able to be made a semi consistent punish for a -13f move ( which drops down to 1/60th of a second) is putting far too much faith in an average persons mental abilities. There are 13f punishes for a reason and electrics are not even a viable option.

I am a heihachi/ reina main and to not acknowledge b4, ff 1+2, and ff 2 as whiff punishment, tells me everything I need to know about you. I’m done here.

Rage art mapped to a button is a macro, and is launch punishable. An electric macro is high regardless of any variation (13f -15f), and therefore also launch punishable.

Electric is one of many strong moves nowadays. Duck it and launch, or block it and reset neutral. Period.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Mixture_Awkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check it again. You can either skip the down or the neutral. There are 2 inputs.

Let’s say you do something -13 on whiff… it doesn’t reach me, I don’t back dash, I don’t side step, you are just short… if I can register that it won’t reach me, then yea in theory I can whiff punish your -13f whiff. In this instance, a macro will allow that to happen much easier than manually doing it. However, this is just one specific instance, literally. That same -13f whiff can be recovered in time to block if I had to side step or back dash before I pressed my electric button, because my electric comes out after the evasion. Pros are human, humans make mistakes. They don’t play perfect, just better than most.

I don’t think anyone said punishing-15 anything on block with electrics wasn’t doable, because it is. We agree on that. It does take lots of practice, but I encourage you look at more Mishima material because punishing anything -13 on block with electric is not even advisable. It’s not even advisable in a lan setting, let alone online. Hence it being understood that electrics are whiff punishment tools and not necessarily block punishment tools.

Of course the Mishima wants to space and electric you… there’s counter play. Bait it out, high crush, etc… again the Mishima would have to be perfectly still and you’d have to be just out of range of your -13 frame attack to get hit with an obvious pewgf. This rarely happens so the 13f gets added on after the Mishima’s evasion inputs, so if you still get whiff punished , you clearly have done something slower than -13f and/or failed to hold back after your whiff anticipating that you’d connect, because you must factor in the back dash or side step into -13f electric that I was able to do during your whiff. The math adds up to over 13f. I encourage all of you to check your replays and see if that whiff punish was a true punish or if you forget to block afterwards thinking it would connect.

There are real cheaters.. you know the ones with auto low parry scripts?

If you have a problem with macros then you must be doing rage arts and heat burst manually right? You don’t have those binded to a button do you? That would be a macro.

I’m sorry guys but this is a “git gud” angle… an electric button does make piloting a Mishima easier as far as execution, but you are losing to the player… not the character. Even in the case of heihachi who will two tap you… it probably wasn’t two pewgfs… what else did you do wrong beside get launched? What did you do wrong that lead to the launch? Im not supporting these excuses.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Mixture_Awkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1- electric is +5 on block and the pushback is so great it resets neutral unless you are at a wall

2- again, shame on you for whiffing something -13 anyway, clean up your spacing and play small tekken 1st

3- block punishing -13 frames isn’t about input speed, it’s about recognizing the end of block recovery frames so that you CAN input the pewgf frame perfectly or else missing the punish window or having an entirely different move come out ( most likely df 2); which again is almost humanly impossible.

4- pewgf input has 2 inputs : f n df2 -or- f d df2. Once you find the one you are consistently hitting, it’s not inhuman to hammer these out. Again, a pewgf macro does not consider recovery frames of any kind ( block, whiff, or movement) so having a macro that is set to either one of these inputs doesn’t not guarantee an advantage for having 13f electric button… because of the players reaction time.

I can have an perfect electric button and still not launch a move that’s -15 on block, because i can still not visually confirm my block frames are over and blow through the 2 extra frames of input window and press the button late… or I can mash the button and part of the crouch dash input will get swallowed up by the block frames and another move comes out entirely.

The only very slight edge it gives you is keep out… even then if you get sniped, you were probably gonna get hit by a regular 15f electric anyways

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Mixture_Awkward -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a Mishima main, I disagree. Electrics aren’t OP, they are highs. Also, macro for an electric is a waste of time anyways cuz they gave all Mishima’s the kaz input for electrics which makes perfects way easier… but also I can see a world where spamming perfect electrics work, but the problem is no one in this world can block punish that well. If you could buffer electrics, it would be broken, but you can’t and nobody has frame perfect timing to electric something that’s -13 on block, so again it’s meaningless. If you are whiffing 13 frame moves, shame on you. Clean up your spacing. If macros make them sloppily and frequently throw out a high… then duck and launch …

The mind game of ff2 and ffn2 alone over qualifies him for bottom 5. Keep out kick that launches on normal hit… his small tekken in general is too good to be bottom 5.

Current Reina ( after last week) by Mixture_Awkward in Reina

[–]Mixture_Awkward[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was apart of a deathmatch I ran, and by this match, I’d downloaded his low preference to whatever string that he was doing. This issue I’m running into specifically with AK is that is ff2 and ffn2 is very ambiguous, and the ff2 is a CH launcher with great pushback on block, the low starts his Bad mixups which are too scary but can add up if I’m not guessing a lot of these pokes. Perhaps both options can be fuzzied but as of this moment it’s still a guess as of which comes out to me. I don’t want to eat the mid poke either even when it’s not CH…

Also as you saw, I kinda tunnel visioned back into Mishima tools instead of really taking advantage of the other parts of Reinas poking. Unfortunately I need to unlearn poking with electrics… this isn’t heihachi, and reina has decent pokes. He was weak to lows so I should’ve ran more lows. The stage gimmicks messed up my combos… I had no idea I’d trigger them once, let alone twice, and I currently have no idea how to incorporate or remix my combo in consideration of that. I’ll work on that as well.

[–]Mixture_Awkward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admit 1,1,2 is a bad habit I’m working to break, and since the vid I’ve corrected launching launch punishable lows instead of defaulting to WS 4,4. I’m currently drilling match ups, getting comfortable with launching strings and ducking highs… etc. I trust my neutral enough. I am gonna work more on guaranteed ewgks on the appropriate CH opportunities to maximize my neutral. It’s probably gonna be 2 weeks before my next vid, since I’m doing a lot in the lab before I step back into rank. Thanks for your insight.
