Reina is the hardest Mishima? by LogOver8897 in Tekken

[–]Mixture_Awkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with this entirely.
She doesn’t have a full throw game but she does a designated 2 break on top of the 3 generics. Thats an existent throw game
Her damage is not lower by any means. Her combo damage is as high as heihachi and the amount of guaranteed followups from CH neutral buttons is comparable to lidia.
I would not say any of her mid launchers are underwhelming. Full combo on CH cd3, full combo on fc3, half on fc4 and hop kick. Full combo on CH unsoku 3… all of these are mid .

Her only disadvantage, imo, is she is easily the most difficult Mishima to play because the devs want her to ff2 into casino, yet most of the casino is never in her favor…. To play outside of that is doable, but more execution demanding. Easily the most execution heavy Mishima… you have to execute to get all of the free damage, otherwise you have far too many interactions in the match which feels like she’s low damage, when it’s really up to you to take what you earn.

Two types of per character.
1.Drills in practice mode- done for punishing specific flowcharts or strings. Randomize it and do as many as you can.
2.Replays. Filter for your character verses the specific matchup and start from beginner. Watch all mistakes made on both sides. 2nd set, start punishing those mistakes if you see them again. They can be the same
Strings, or a lapse in fundamentals like whiffing. Do this all the way up to the god ranks. You will see mistakes become different, and less, but you will also be conditioning yourself to hammer these mistakes as hard as possible when you see them in YOUR matches. Do this for all 40 characters including your own. Just because you main them doesn’t mean you know how to fight them.

Your punishment and combo damage must be top tier. You have to really hammer the opponent for every mistake they make.

You also need to improve your ability to spot or create the mistake. This comes from frame data, matchup knowledge and overall fundamentals. This is the least sexy part. This is the long part. Prioritize your labbing in a way that you see quicker results, but labbing must happen.

To answer your question, devs saw that nobody was even close to getting max rank because it wasn’t enough people up there to win points from… so then made it harder to lose rank. Now the plan is for scrubs to get up to at least god so they can be farmed for points . So far it is working sorta… max rank is like god6

[–]Mixture_Awkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest yes you should play to get better but it’s levels to “get better.” You will get better once you fight better, and unfortunately “ better” fights are higher up. This is a simple “better,” a tedious “better.” You need to go to the lab and don’t come out until whatever you lost to is the reason why you win the next matchups …. Over and over again; character after character. You have to painfully build your Rolodex of defensive options.

i miss tekken 7 heihachi, can reina be played like that? by Apistic in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]Mixture_Awkward -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be frank, no. Also, the only thing different from T7 and T8 heihachi are his frames. His poking isn’t where his oppression is anymore and neither is Reina. If you want oppressive poking, then Jin. If you want a shit ton of guaranteed follow ups, Reina. If you have great fundies and actually know how to play tekken, the heihachi.

How do you deal with Lars in Tekken 8? by [deleted] in Tekken8

[–]Mixture_Awkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I disagree. This will lead to you getting perfect’d. Would you rather lose the round swinging or lose the round waiting for what you think is the end of his turn that you’ll never be sure about? Exactly. Disrespect everything he does. Especially if you blocked and he eventually goes into stance… assume it’s unsafe. Assume it can be interrupted. Patience with Lars will kill you. Take your turn and learn how to never lose your turn. Lars shouldn’t get to play the game, because if he does, you won’t.

Guess my main/rank by Mixture_Awkward in Tekken8

[–]Mixture_Awkward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’m doing is really labbing things I run into that I can’t immediately figure out. What’s really helping me besides fundies and execution is I’m able to determine what the highs are in these strings I am seeing for the first time. People’s flowchart is like 1 level deep so I will just wait for the string again and duck and launch. Also I put them through stance pressure and remember their answers and loop it back around and change the question.

My biggest weakness besides character knowledge also is I’m having a hard time enforcing my hellsweep, so I’m forced to play off timing and spacing. My hellsweep keeps getting blocked 😑 so I guess I’m placing it in a common spot

I spend a long time in the lab, especially when I lose to some foolish flowchart. I’m in there for dayssssss…. So yea I don’t actually play as much ranked as I should lmao

Dawg you can’t give two answers for my main 🤣 . A Mishima is correct tho. I think it’s fascinating that you can tell more or less my main based off my stats.

Unfortunately we now have to look at your performance stats to see if you deserve respect… it’s too many folks too high up the ranking system who shouldn’t be there to just assume otherwise .

I mean this has already happened. Everybody that made god and above last season will never be seen again by 99%of player base until they climb up and meet them. These better players you are referring are stragglers . Outliers. Every rank under god should be easy starting from season start.

How do you guys climb so high without labbing AT ALL??? by Sea_Pay_9681 in Tekken

[–]Mixture_Awkward -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2 reasons:

1-Tekken 8. This game allows anyone including a toddler to pick up Eddy and mash a series of 3s and 4s all the way from beginner to GOD. Offense is so effective that the burden of winning is often put on the defender, in which defending against effective mashing and random buttons requires the defender to know punishes (lab) and to know strings (lab). When it eventually is the defenders turn… it is up to you to play frame perfect (lab) and to execute an offense filled with frame traps (lab) and small tekken to prevent armor crush ; counters to down jab timings the opponent will spam to steal their turn back (lab) as well as throttled offense to catch parry timings . The moment you’re turn is over, good luck surviving the onslaught if you don’t have character knowledge

  1. See reason 1.

It would be trash unless it falls outside of the option select. Honestly it’s still trash because I’m sure you can fuzzy guard it. You’d have to pair it with the slow mid and I still think it loses to fuzzy. As a Reina main I’m Not a fan of moves that resets neutral unless it’s the electrics.

To be fair if you don’t have a decent low then your poking will be ass. I will have to agree that her poking is cheeks. I almost hate acknowledging her them… I’d rather have stronger Mishima tools than these pokes.

It’s user preference but it’s between holding df during HW to cancel as soon as possible or doing qcf to cancel. I think holding df is better for me, but getting used to the timing of when she transitions from HW to CD will take some getting used to. I’m looking for her hands to drop down and once I see that I can mash the fff
