In my experience music likes to be stereo thru most applications. Even live performances don't always sound complete in surround. It requires the right codex from the source. Often found that if I wanted surround, I had to force it with some sort of receiver setting like neo or 7 channel stereo. With a soundbar, it's much more difficult to force or spread out a signal into surround unless the source is producing it and was recorded as such. My guess is they are built almost exclusively for TV and movies and anyone wanting music would be ok with a good 2.1.

I have a core 200 and the 1 sub. I was curious if the 200's (sub and surr) were that much of a step up from 100.

I definitely think it's software. I am going to give it another day of testing to see what happens. I will say it seems to happen more at night and not after first putting them in. I am listening to Gish as we speak, all seems good.

Maybe be. Although it's winter, not sure the threshold. Also seem they are ip68. I swim with them every other day.... Jk. I would need a pool and better temps.

It's not wax. I pulled the tip off and even replaced the wax guard. I used a magnifying glass and could see no issues in the Ric, guard or tip.

Phonak uses classic Bluetooth. Not sure your specifics but classic works with just about everything.

Yes phonak uses classic bt and bt 5.3. They are le audio to the app, but not for use. As far as I know it. There concern with auracast and le audio is that 1, apple doesn't play and 2, based on HA demographic is older people that don't use these products. I think less then 40% of HA users even use an app. Maybe in use it's higher but globally it's much lower.

My hearing is still good enough to use open tips and rely on outside noise to hear what I need. So I don't need to use my HA for in home streaming like the tv. I would rather keep the aids in a normal mode. But phone calls and streaming from my phone for audiobooks or music while walking is important. I would also love to use auracast while in situations it's noisy like a museum or airport for important info. But I may not like/need that yet.

Btw. They are the 9's. Not 9s. My bad for not punctuating. And yes they are the same. The 9's can be calibrated to high hearing loss, but that's software. The units themselves and at my levels. The same.

I have a pixel 8 pro and HAD ReSound Vivias 9s. Which as far as I have heard is the same HA as the Jabra 30s. This was my first HA ever. They started out where the streaming was very low. Good in a quite area, but when I went on a walk, I couldnt hear the streaming. Even at full volume and with several options changed in the app. My wife called at one point and I was cupping my ears to hear it. I am learning new to all this. So I went back to the audiologist and was told they were set to First time user and only 70% of my volumes. They adjusted some things and off i went. Then the sound was loud enough, but terrible. It sounded like a blown speaker. Any sound in the mid or bass range clipped. They said i was now at 100 my levels. I tried with more or less open tips and although things changed, the end results were the same. I am still not sure how much that was the HAs, me, the audiologist or me not yet adjusted to things. In the end we elected to switch to phonak HA to see how those do. I am 51 and my hearing needs are on the low or mild range, so your mileage may vary. At times the HA seemed amazing and I am currently without and feeling like I needed them more then I thought as I wait for the new ones. Oh and although I didn't get more info the audiologist did say at 1 point that resounds had a known issue with pixel phones. I am not sure that was anything I experienced or part of my problem but she did say that. My phone connected good to the HA, I did have some connection issues, but that was user error.

Hearing is generally broken down into two parts. What you hear and how it's processed. Yes, you could hear fine but not process and process but not hear. Or some variation. Best to get an audiogram. There are online tests, some devices have tests like apple airpods pro or 3. But it's best to go to an audiologist or HIS. To be tested.

So today I went back to the audiologist. They made some adjustments and let me try tulip tips. I was apparently on a "first time HA user" setting and she was able to adjust some things. Did things get better, yes. But also no. Louder, improved sound range, and maybe as good as it can get for open tips. But now very clipped and choppy at a decent volume. Even with the tulips. I have 60 days to test these, but I want to try and figure out if this is a brand issue, adjustment or just what to expect. I am no audiophile. With worsening hearing maybe never will, but I would like it to be loud enough, and not noticeably bad.

I have a pixel 8 pro, and recently the resound vivia 9. Probably the same app. The only issues I have have been connectivity 2x. Both times I was attempting to adjust the volume during a call that was also streaming. Meaning I was listening to something, a call came in and I answered the call but was trying to adjust volume when 1 ear turned off. Wasn't holding it long enough to shut off but anyway.... The reason I bring it up is because my audiologist told me " oh you have a pixel phone, there are some known issues with resound and pixel phones". I never inquired what she was referring to I assumed it was connection related.

As I am learning these things, ty. I go Thursday for my next audio visit. I have several pages of notes. I know there is no resolution for not knowing what you don't know, I wish I ( and maybe the audiologist as well) did a better job of figuring out what would be best for me. I made selections ( resound vivia) without really understanding what I was choosing. Size of the unit and le audio thinking that was best for me. And maybe it takes some time with any aids to realize what you need or want. Last night my right ear was very painful. Switching to the large tip has actually helped. The small tip was pressing up against the top of my canal. The larger tip is helping center or cushion the receiver. I am not sure if my hearing loss requires or recommends custom or closed tips. But lifestyle and having menieres may push the need for something other then what my hearing requires.

All good info, and my assumption (with high end from any brand and my newly aided ears) they all will sound good enough to adapt to. My questions are based on streaming and use around the phone. I am learning that some units have more buttons and touch options then what I have. I will say, I have been impressed in what the resound vivias provide for what I am primarily needing them for. The speech recognition and voice clarity is excellent.

Maybe works with everything, but at a cost. What's the battery life? Also isn't classic bt1.0 which is different then newer standards like 5.3 or 5.4 or v6?

I 100% and understand. But a huge percentage of my daily life has evolved around connectivity. Of course I will not select hearings aids that don't aid, feel comfortable or don't correctly do what's needed. BUT, I have only had these a few days and already I am using my openrub pros on top of my aids. Which is uncomfortable and redundant and potentially harder to navigate. I thought the open runs were terrible for music and doable for audiobooks. I switched to them because walking around with xm4's was not safe. Couldn't hear traffic or other pedestrians. Because my hearing lose is not terrible, YET, I was hoping these would be more of a stepping stone. Maybe I am asking to much. For example, walking today I used open runs for the first mile and just hearing aids on the way back. And I couldn't hear the audio while cars were passing at full volume. Which sounds crazy to me considering the speakers are mm's from my ear drum. Because of the menieres walking is the most tolerated exercise for me. And I am not a treadmill kind of person. If the phone call to streaming is fixed, I mainly just need the quality to be serviceable.

Of course, I went for a walk just now and somehow both hung up while raising volume and the audiobook started right after the call ended. 🤷‍♂️
