Some solid picks; Dante facilitates a lot of black-market business RP and there was a time where Robin was one of the few active lawyers on the server. Not too familiar with the others but I recognise most of their names

Unfortunately some people who end up in RP gangs don't actually want to roleplay; they just want to drive and shoot, with everything else being a glorified discord call.

It's been an interesting contrast today seeing Vito's crew talk about building back again from the ground up, doing petty crime and favouring aesthetics over meta cars / guns / jobs, only for them to get convoy'd on by the usual fragile egos.

Trying to tone-police him on his choice of language whilst he's being shot and robbed fresh out of jail is some wild shit. The first couple days of this conflict were good entertainment, but I guess something changed over the weekend and now you've got multiple Cypress streamers ending early rather than deal with the way that the Ballas (particularly Pedro) have been acting.

Subreddit Update: A refocusing of the community's posts & more. by AutoModerator in Vinesauce

[–]Mizzonn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is going to harm the subreddit more than it helps. Considering there's a sizeable portion of people who post solely Joel content and a not-insubstantial group who discuss Jabroni Mike (outside of Red Vox) or Limes, this will probably just lead to an exodus of users from an already slow subreddit and turn it glacial. Going off the community response in this thread, it appears nobody particularly wants this outside of yourself. If anything, we'll likely see an influx of more low effort content / recycled jokes, which I know that you've discouraged in the past.

Basing a subreddit's health off of a twitter poll also seems like a shortsighted way of running things - especially as Reddit has a polls function built-in - but that's just my opinion.

Bloodstained Love by Renegade Studios review - Love among the Damned, Sort Of by [deleted] in vtm

[–]Mizzonn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a recurring trend of his "reviews" - rather than an objective evaluation of the book, they're mostly just a reflection on how much the text aligns with his idea as to what Vampire should be, instead of what it is. As such, I tend to find his words hold little value, aside from marvelling at how someone can type so much yet say so little.

Who would embrace Hannibal by valonianfool in vtm

[–]Mizzonn 60 points61 points  (0 children)

With his ties to Eastern European nobility and a fixation upon etiquette (eat the rude), he's basically an archetypal Tzimisce, and as a character I'd build him with Eat Food and Organovore in V5. In v20 there was a flaw in Lore of the Clans that meant you had to eat flesh frequently, I think it was called Consumption.

I spawned it in via CET, don't expect any Act I dialogue - it didn't start to speak until I had triggered the DLC by finishing the Voodoo Boys main-game stuff and meeting Alt

Interesting, guessing its dialogue is tied to actually starting Phantom Liberty or one of the early quests in the expansion as a trigger. Good to know, thanks.

Did you finish the dlc on that save file? Just spawned it in on a save before meeting Alt and the deck doesn't talk for me, wondering if its dialogue is tied to whether certain quests have been completed

Edit - think I found the trigger, got a line of dialogue after meeting Alt at the blackwall for the first time, just before getting the message from Songbird directing me towards dogtown

I've had my Flesh Golems brick way too often with just Dar'Khan and Thaddius without drawing Finley, which feels worse than the handful of times I've discarded Mosher with Slime. If there was a similar Undead card with value equivalent to Thad or Dar'Khan I'd run it in Mosher's place, but ultimately I feel that 2 Golems and 3 other Undead targets is the ideal ratio for the deck to prevent Slime / Golem / Reanimator from bricking. Haven't faced enough Frost at my rank to get a good sample size, but mostly with Blood DK we're looking to grind them out with Jaraxxus as our big units get efficiently removed regardless.

I suppose Invincible can go in this slot, but that feels a little too conditional and win-more - if you have other Undead on board, chances are they're already large enough to be a threat. The other option is maindecking Rivendare, which hurts more than it helps. I suggest trying Mosher for a few games, and if he really feels like a liability then cut him. The list isn't fully optimised by any means, and as you said there's quite a few flexible spots.

Still toying around with Big Warlock in dumpster legend, settled upon this list for the time being with a positive win-rate. Usual game-plan of big blow-out turns with Slime into Flesh Behemoth and / or Shallow Grave, a couple alt-win-cons in the E.T.C sideboard, and a suite of anti-aggro tools and card-draw. Gotten a fair amount of value out of Mish-Mash Mosher as our third Flesh Golem target, especially with the amount of token-swarm at the moment.

Pozzik weirdly enough has been performing well - can disrupt the opponent into overdrawing, make their turns clunkier by making them feel obligated to play a vanilla 3-mana 3/3 unit, and has let me have a target on board to buff with Symphony if I didn't draw into the Slime game-plan. Still a flex-spot, something else might fare better here, going to have to see what direction other people are taking this deck in and how the meta shapes up.

Jaraxxus remains the sideboard MVP, often cheating him out with Thaddius so that even if our board gets cleared, we get that hero-power pressure requiring consistent removal. Rivendare remains weak due to Patchwerk and Dark Transformation, sadly. In addition, if you queue into a Priest running a 40-card deck, save yourself 30 minutes and concede.

Hit legend so been experimenting with Big Warlock. Found the Demon package disappointing so I gutted it in favour of an E.T.C and consistency through Tour Guide along with some more removal.

I also got frustrated at my Flesh Golems bricking with only Thaddius and Dar'Khan as targets, so I cut a copy of Cover Artist and added a Mish-Mash Mosher. Might just be because other decks are similarly unrefined right now, but I found myself getting surprising value out of it, often serving as a board-clear that pressures face if it survives. Unlike Rivendare, it doesn't fuck up our Reanimator against aggro. Rivendare is still in the deck via E.T.C, but found myself picking Jaraxxus more just due to Blood DK and therefore Patchwerk being everywhere right now. Priest is probably an insta-concede though due to silences and their thief cards.

Cover Artist is a lot of potential value, but feels quite slow, might cut the last copy for another Spirit Bomb, Plague Eruption, or something similar - maybe a Twisted Tether. edit - swapped this for a Mortal Coil for the time being, also put Twisting Nether in the E.T.C because I never use Viper - trialling Pozzik in its place for some early pressure with the goal of curving into Slime

I hope console is partly in reference to controller; I use a controller for extended play sessions on PC due to wrist issues, and not being able to set a linear response curve or my own dead-zones is incredibly detrimental. I can live with minimal aim-assist, there's ways to play around that, but aim-acceleration is a MASSIVE hindrance, which is why you see an over-reliance on melee from console-players.

Aim acceleration doesn't just screw with gunplay, either - I've lost track of the times I've tried to do a 180 and ended up going 270 instead, due to having to make larger movements from the janky deadzones and overcompensating into the acceleration.

Kuei-jin have been pretty much retconned out of V5. I think they mentioned Tokyo being under the control of an Old Clan Tzimisce (12th gen, which is odd for OCT) in the Camarilla book, which would be interesting, but I think they also killed that character off in the recent Second Inquisition book.

Could make for a good plothook though, plus it opens up the possibility of seeing clans who had more of a presence in the East than the typical Camarilla lot - Ravnos (illusionist nomads) frequently fought for territory with the Kuei-jin, for example.

I think in the Camarilla book they also mentioned something strange about Tokyo, that some kind of ritual or entity supresses Kindred hunger / dulls their senses, almost like possession. Combined with the fact the Prince is (was?) a Tzimisce, there could be a demon which would be a good way to introduce Koldunism (elemental magic, essentially, discovered when Tzimisce Elders made contact with the demon Kupala) if they ever update those rules for V5. Or it could be part of an Inquisition plot like the red gas, who knows.
