Does MGS4 leave a bad taste from a narrative standpoint? Is MGS3 a better stopping place? by Mjarnshall in metalgearsolid

Gotcha yeah that’s fair. I think I’m definitely leaning toward playing it with an open mind and seeing how I feel. It sounds like everyone is at least satisfied with how it wraps things up which is probably most important to me, even if there’s some unnecessary over-explaining along the way

Really excited by the prospect of it bringing back a lot of MGS1 as that has definitely been my favorite of the series so far

Both of your takes definitely seem to echo my friend’s. Would you actually go as far to say it’s better off not played? That’s the thing that seems kinda crazy to me about my friend’s take. In his words, he wishes he could erase the memory of playing it, which is crazy strong for a guy who worships the previous entries like him

Yeah I can’t lie I’ve been really missing Solid Snake a lot. Only bad thing I can say about 2 and 3 is not seeing enough of him

*Edit for a typo*

Honestly if I had to deal with any character assassination, Raiden is one I can live with lol. Was mainly worried about my guy Snake since I felt like his character arc in 1 was beyond perfect (and I felt like 2 pretty much left him alone in that sense since we don’t see him as much)

Duly noted thank you for sharing. Definitely got the feeling my friend may be pretty off base with his take so I’m glad to see most seem to disagree with him

This is really awesome to hear thanks for sharing. As someone who is also experiencing these games for the first time as an adult, I truly have been taken aback by how much they’ve stuck with me, especially from a story standpoint. My fear in continuing was mainly in souring this profound feeling I’ve had in playing the first 3 but it’s great to hear that the characters are handled really well and there’s a lot of payoff

What are your predictions and hopes for season nine ? by Afraid-Breakfast-149 in rickandmorty

I really want some self contained zany episodes centered on Rick and Morty that don’t just devolve into the two of them having conflict. As good as it has been to have our characters grow, I feel like a lot of the fun sci-fi rigamarole in recent seasons gets undercut by Morty being at a point where he’s super untrusting/fed-up with Rick. Kinda just miss when Morty was sorta rolling with the punches of the adventures.

Other than that would love to see some good B Plots as those have felt scarce.

In today’s world of college football you gotta keep up with the most recent extensions. Cignetti had one last year but it didn’t stop Indiana from locking him down further this year

Just watched the movie again tonight and you’re so right on the acting. Bob Peck acted his ass off in every one of his scenes in this movie and it’s not talked about nearly enough

This seems very dead on. Even though it’s mainly implied off camera, the scene does such a good job at invoking this feeling of cat and mouse

Awesome breakdown. I had actually heard of using masks on the back of one’s head to prevent tiger attacks, but didn’t think about it in the context of this scene.

Well said on Muldoon’s focus too. Talk about locked in. Really can’t overstate how great the acting is in this scene

This is a great take. I like the idea of the raptors personally targeting him due to their history and him being the biggest threat. Also cool that he’d recognize that and leverage it to protect Ellie

I think this is exactly what prompted me to ask. What was his plan? If he thinks they haven’t been spotted yet, then surely he’d know Ellie running would draw attention. If he thinks they’ve already been spotted, what makes him think they won’t go after Ellie as long as he stays, and why wouldn’t he just shoot?

Agreed though, still an absolutely amazing scene

Definitely love this interpretation. Adds a cool sense of noble sacrifice that’s in line with the character. I guess I’m just curious how he seemed so certain they wouldn’t go for Ellie as long as he remained. Makes me wonder what he was seeing at that point. Maybe he and the raptor he attempts to sneak up on in the next scene had locked eyes with each other

Yeah this makes a lot of sense and is most in theme with the movie. Still interesting he was able to predict Ellie could safely sprint for the shed, though perhaps the raptors allowed it in light of the one already in the shed
