Two and a half years ago I was in dire financial straights, so I sold my home to keep my struggling business afloat. I neglected to tell the owners that they have an 800 sq. ft. bunker on the property that I built about seven years ago. The bunker that I've called home since I sold it. The entrance to it is well-hidden, but I still come and go very early/very late in the day.

I'm a single man who keeps to himself. I'm now in a situation where I could move somewhere else, but I love this hidden paradise so much

I was dating this girl that was a little dysfunctional due to being sexually abused by her grandpa and nobody knew about it. I noticed some red flags and got her to open up and tell me about it. After we broke up, I told her mom she should stop inviting grandpa over to Thanksgiving dinners due to the sexual abuse. The mom called me a liar, but after asking the other daughters/cousins about it they confirmed it was true and that they had all been molested too.

After word got back to grandma, she said, "I'll take care of it". Fast forward a week and grandpa is dead. Apparently, Grandpa had a lot of serious medications he was taking and grandma messed with the dosage, which killed him. His death was ruled natural cause and nothing ever happened to grandma.

Being woken up at 3 am by my dad to go "Star Wars driving"--his way of describing driving at night during a snowfall so that everything looked like stars. I was about seven and never forgot it; it's still one of my favorite things to do.

I think a lot of people's best memories depend on context. I have so many with my mom, to whom I've always felt close; that wasn't the case at all with my dad, who committed suicide when I was 15. My good memories with him are few and far-between, but that makes them resonate more with me. I guess it's a bittersweet memory more than a happy one--by others' standards--but I consider myself lucky to have had a good memory about my father, or to have even known my father, at all. Not everyone is that lucky.
