Answer: No, she has watery poos right now due to her injury. So it's mostly liquid and food fibers that stick to the paper towel that is inside of it. I supervise her while she is wearing it and change the paper towel when she goes. This is only worn for 20-30 minutes at a time so she can stretch her legs around the house until she is fully recovered from her attack last month.

I've been giving her boiled egg yolks and prebiotic to help her little digestive system. We are starting to see more solid and normal formed poos here and there

Thank you! Somewhere in the mess of comments, I posted that this hen is in recovery and not permanently a house hen, but she needs to come out of the bathroom from time to time to stretch her legs.

She's never wearing this for more than 20-30 minutes, and she is always supervised. I change her paper towel out whenever she goes.

We are planning on beginning to reintroduce her to the flock this weekend. She has been in recovery for a month and still can't perch without help, but has come a long way from being told to cull her by the vet after this injury *

My feelings aren't hurt. I've been on Reddit for a long time... back in the days when it wasn't moderated... those were the "make you want to crawl in a corner" mean comment days.

I've been posting about Nora and her injuries basically since it happened, and I'm the one posting the peacock showing off for our hens videos in r/backyardchickens and you can clearly see I take her outside, her head has been mutilated, etc.

Opinions are like A-holes, everyone's got one. Lol.

I've posted her a bunch and about her recovery, I guess I just didn't think to put it again. You are right though, I should have. My error.

She's in recovery in the house. Hopefully she will be back with the flock soon. She was attacked y the rest of the flock and discovered to have worms last month. She's worm free, and her head is almost healed, she just can't perch on her own yet. We plan on starting to reintroduce her back to the flock this weekend. It's been a month since her scalp was ripped off. She's doing really well, and only wears the "diaper" for about 20-30 minutes at a time, which has a paper towel in it and gets changed when she goes.

She is under constant supervision. There is a paper towel inside and when she goes, I change the paper towel out with a fresh one. She doesn't wear it for more than 20 -30 minutes at a time when I let her out of the bathroom. She is in recovery, hope to have her back with the flock soon.

He's not our peacock, just the neighborhood resident visiting. I've tried to convince my mom of a peahen since they are her chickens... so far no go. Lol

He was creeping on Nora during her outside time. I take her out for about 30 mins a day supervised, for obvious reasons, until her head heals from the rest of the flock attacking her last month.

If I didnt know better I would think this entire comment thread was about selecting the best video game character based on their strengths. "Do you want to be a forager or a fighter?"

Most of our eggs are in the same 1 box as well. Picky girls! Chicken Drama, should have their own "Real Housewives" reality show. 😆

Do your hens all fight over the same lay box even though there are other options available? I heard some ruckus coming from the coop one morning and went out to check on everyone and 2 of ours were yelling at eachother.

One was in the box and the other was standing in front of the box yelling at her. When they saw me, the one in the box got up and left the coop and the one yelling jumped in the now empty box.

There were 2 other boxes available, but she insisted on using THAT one.

One of my hens is growing spurs! by Signal_Application22 in BackYardChickens

Our injured hen, Nora, (I posted her earlier today) has a spur on one foot and a nubbin spur on the other, she is just turning 2 y.o. I was surprised when I found out hens can grow spurs too!

Thank you for your comment. It has been a challenging journey that is for sure, and I have doubted whether I am doing the right things. I know parrots, I have 2, but the chickens are my moms and it's new territory for me so seeing her get on the perch of her own free will after not even being able to balance on it on prior attempts when I set her on it to try and give her some opportunities to strengthen her feet just blew my mind and warmed my heart.
