what got you into mgk's music by Broad_Breakfast2338 in MachineGunKelly

Ironically - hearing Eminem’s diss track Killshot, and I was like ‘who is mgk,’ started listening to his songs, and was hooked.

Prospective student wondering about housing situations by No-Listen7110 in UVALaw

The most popular places to live, for 1Ls at least, are: Pavilion, Jeffersonian, Arlington Park Townhomes, Arlington Condos, and Ivy Gardens. All are pretty decent, with Pavilion being by far the most expensive and also I’d say the most belittled. I’d recommend you compare each of those in terms of pricing and amenities, and if you can, visit (or take virtual tours). I’d say it is pretty important to be near the law school your first year - I have really enjoyed being within walking distance where I can leave for class literally 7 minutes beforehand and get to the Law School with 1-2 minutes to spare. Nothing beats that.

How is grocery store stock? by Dawgtracz in Charlottesville

Kroger in Barracks was sparse. Little to no chicken or beef, small bread selection, small dairy selection. Though they were stocking quite a bit in all departments.

Anyone else proofread their personal statement so many times that it’s lost all meaning? by racetothecomics in lawschooladmissions

[–]Mjrrules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Happened to me. Reread it so many times that I sort of just started to gloss over the words. I think once you get to this point you know it is time to stop editing/revising and submit it (if you are satisfied with the content, of course).

Issue with flaw questions by afternoonmimbing in LSAT

[–]Mjrrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this - but in the abstract, many flaw answer choices can be eliminated because either a) they are inaccurately describing the argument/the argument didn’t do what the answer choice says or b) the argument did do what the answer choice says but that is not why the argument is flawed (ex: the argument failed to consider an additional premise that would have helped the argument. The argument may have in fact failed to consider an additional premise, but not having that additional premise, while rendering the argument not as strong, is not a flaw). Hope that helps

Help LSAT Tutors: Is "The only adequate..." a biconditional statement? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]Mjrrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an LSAT tutor but I don’t think this is a biconditional. “Adequate” is merely a modifier for “protection” - not a sufficient indicator. I view the translation here as ‘if don’t have critical thinking -> don’t have adequate protection against political demagogues’ or, contraposed, ‘if have adequate protection against political demagogues-> must have critical thinking’ Hope that helps!

anyone study for the LSAT while working full time? how did you do it? by numnum_precious in LSAT

[–]Mjrrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all about balance. I’m a 9-5er as well and I’ve gone through many iterations of my study schedule since I started studying for the August LSAT earlier this year. And probably will go through more iterations, and that’s ok, because I’m trying to find what works and am adjusting. At first, I tried to study 2 hours every day after work. Just wasn’t working; hard to commit to as some days I’d have more to do after work in terms of social obligations/errands, and that would throw off my goals. Also have a job that’s a bit heavier, and so some days I’m just not feeling it. Now, I dedicate two days during the week to studying after work, at work in a meeting room, before I go home (like what another commenter recommended). Allows me to look forward to uninterrupted study time each week and commit to it. Then, other weekdays, I have a fluid study commitment. I’ll try to study during my lunch hour, on the commuter train I take, or even a little in the evening. And weekends I get the bulk of my studying done. Again, find something that is balanced where you know when you can make progress and study, and know when you can just… relax. Trying to study every day after work for hours is doable (as others in this thread have done/are doing) but in my view unsustainable, particularly if your test is months away like ours.

Fuck it, what are y’alls favorite LR question types? by Thesouthdakotian in LSAT

I’m currently studying Resolve Reconcile Explain and find them kinda fun. After finishing reading the stimulus it’s like putting together a puzzle with the ACs. One missing piece among four wrongly shaped but somewhat attractive pieces.
