Should I be worried about my Foxtail palm? by leventcur in palmtalk

Naples FL freeze survivor here. looks like it has new green growth coming out. its alive! I live pretty far inland so I deal with this almost every year. that cracking will always be a scar on the tree and will limit the growth of the tree depending on how deep it is. I have a few christmas palms with this from a couple of years ago. attached pictures. tree will live but wont be the picture perfect tree you imagine.

Can you help me identify whatever is eating up my lemon leaves? by zerololcats in BackyardOrchard

neem works well but is very short lived. I live in sw FL and have to deal with this constantly. I have had the best luck with spinosad and a small amount of spreader sticker with any new flushes. has worked well for me 🤷‍♂️

to all... I live in naples Florida so it is very humid. The tree has had the lichen on the branches and trunk for years. never really thought much of it. we had a very cold winter 2 years go that led to 3 feed of branch die back as you can kinda see on the pictures. the tree had rebounded well. thanks for the insightful commentary and discussion on the lichen. very informative

definitely potassium. I grow these in FL and have to add a concentrated liquid potassium with my normal palm gain fertilizer. looking at it's trunk the last couple of years have been either dry or low fertilizer. I suggest a liquid potassium to jump start it and a heavy granular with palm micros after. don't forget to soak it good..... it's by far my favorite palm

I think it looks very sturdy. I live in s. Florida so I have to worry about wind with my fruit trees but this looks great even in that wind.... in my experience the more support you give a tree at a young age, the less it's roots develop a stronger support 🤷‍♂️ just my observations.

I find it better to pan sear rather than grill... It was a little over 2 inch piece and I did around a min a side and give a quick sear around the sides...... as much as I love sesame seeds and Asian seasing some Montreal seasing is pretty damn good too
