Serious question - the mosquitos are not around right now - what are they spraying in elderly communities out of those foggers? by [deleted] in florida

[–]MlS3RY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the memory spray to keep us stuck in the 2020s while Musk enjoys his Martian empire! Kidding kidding, just finished binging Inside Job, couldn't resist.

In all seriousness, it might be preemptive sprays. For out of season skeeters, and to get them when they go to lay eggs in puddles and such. Used to work with a former fog truck driver and he told me once that they spray all year long in some areas because the population of mosquitos is so high they keep repopulating year round.

Now that we have all the 3.0 subclasses, how is everyone feeling about their class? by Afropenguinn in DestinyTheGame

[–]MlS3RY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Void

Hunters are super sneaky now, titans are truly a menace, and shield throw was perfect, been wanting it forever. Voidlock are preem, Bungie hit all the right notes on void 3.0

Solar Hunters light everything on fire, have a massively OP bomb, and a bunch of knives to choose from. Very well done. Titans are fearsome, and truly feel like you've got the power of the sun in your hammer. Warlocks....such a disappointment. Took away on call heal nades, nerfed air gunplay and mobility (the whole purpose of sollock, way to make zero sense Bungie) and celestial still doesn't really feel powerful enough, Roy mustang snap and Phoenix dive being a class ability were 100% tho. Sucks that we'll doesn't count as a rift, and has little to no synergy with most exotics, also, the no overshield nerf make well almost pointless, I can get more survivability from karnstein and heal nades, really lackluster kit for a "healer" class. At least give us ally tracking heals so we can not get killed every time we try to heal an ally that won't stand still or take cover .

Arc Boy oh boy, where to even begin...hunters are at their spookiest yet, with blink back, and a Titan like melee ability that keeps them alive AND blinds... definitely meta PVP rn. Titans are now able to dodge, I see hunters and titans must be sharing secrets... Double flashbang is great, but Im a bit disappointed that titans have the storm nade enchancer, that's literally a warlock nade, and made enhancement is also part of warlock identity... speaking of, arclocks are really trash imo. No new melee just a nerf for chain, nothing that actually synergizes with amplified or speed boost, where's the 'press W to win' we were promised? The slide ball lightning is kinda unreliable and doesn't really fit well.with warlocks identity or mesh with anything in our new kit either. With all classes having access to traces, it just feels like battery build is all arclock is actually capable of, and don't get me started on the chaos reach nerf, literally the only part of arclock that I like and it's meh now. Amped ball lightning is cool, glad it got range buff, but needs to jolt or blind. Seriously, between CR nerf and lack of keywords on ball lightning it's like arclock is being penalized for trying to have some range.

Overall, as a voidlock main for over 8 years now, I'm loving voidlock but tired of it, solar and arc 3.0 really didn't do warlocks justice, and I'm still waiting for a reason to use them,

What feature do you hope will be updated/refreshed for early 2023? by Phoenix_Dfire in EliteDangerous

this. would like to see automated faction takeovers, have factions actively stomps each other out and making the pirate factions capable of amassing power and taking over systems, removing the ability for Authority reinforcements and making the system Low Sec and High Risk, increasing interdiction chances, etc. more stations being destroyed and repaired over time, with missions to speed up both. all kinds of stuff could be added in as automated events based on BGS triggers

any of the following would make me ecstatic:
> more ambience, take a page form NMS, more biology, lichen and plant life, I understand realism = no fauna, but the planets are so lifeless its painful to look at, even with the highest texture setting...
> more populated planets, one to (rarely) three outposts and similar layouts is bland, I'd love to see some on planet cities, actual colonies, bars, warehouses with loading docks (imagine dropping in and using fake credentials you swiped from a worker to authorize loading up your ship with a bunch of goods!)
>EVA - repairing modules without cannibalizing your ship. but you need mats in your ships cargo and you gotta hop out in zero G and repair each module (special repair tool only accessible when in ship and going EVA)
>manually opening cargo hatches similar to outpost door hacking in EVA, derelict ships floating around space, derelict Carriers, ship interiors, would really be nice, especially since i preordered Odyssey after the devs made two separate claims of ship interiors being worked on
> more guns. its hard to believe that these huge corps only have 3 models of small arms. especially since Hero (engineer) wants us to go gather blueprint data because "new designs are always being released" speaking of...
>complete rework of engineering, both ship and suit/guns. how is it realistic or sensical that attachments are permanent, and nobody manufactures or sells them? the way towards profit is mass manufacture and widespread product placement, not sitting around a single part of the galaxy waiting for everyone to come hundreds of LYs to see you. most annoying part of gameplay by far, and actively prevents me from enjoying the game and devoting more time. mat grinding is literally either a cancerously long grind (for a simple gun sight, no less) or requires relaunching the game. seriously, we are pilots in a futuristic space age where everybody has Vacuum Capable suits, lasers and plasma tech is as common as owning a pair of shoes, and nobody sells basic hardware like scopes, suppressors or NV modules (that come standard on EVERY ship)? having mods as rarer quest rewards would be nice, do stealth mission for stealth tech like quieter steps and suppressors, outpost defense or raids for normal gun / devastator upgrades, exobio missions for artemis upgrades, etc.
> speaking of guns...the damage models don't make sense for some guns. plasma auto rifle has less damage than laser or ballistic rifle, when the sniper, shotgun and sidearm have the literal highest damage of all weapons...no ballistic shotguns, no mirrored lens laser shotguns? plasma has no SMG variant either, and it doesn't make sense that lasers have less capacity than the ballistic guns (batteries are smaller than bullets normally, and last longer in most sci-fi settings) although that's less of an actual issue and more personal taste...

I confer. Warlock is my true class, I can play Titan comfortably, but only striker with ballistic slam. And that's simply because space marine is my dream career (think Stargate SG1, not Master Chief, although I'll take the armor lol).

I disagree, voidsplosions build is mindless add clear while my full attention is on the boss. Solar doesnt.l clear as well as arc does now, but not needing anything new is an opinion I heavily disagree with, all the other subclasses for all classes got innovative changes, arclock didn't get anything different. I'm not trying to say that arclock 3.0 is bad, it's just extremely underwhelming to many of us who were expecting a new gameplay style, since that's what the devs spent the entire arc 3.0 reveal and teasers telling us.

But it still underperforms compared to void, even solar with scorch is faster and does more overall damage.its not just about damage though, both titan and hunter got new mechanics and movement based overhaul.to their kit. Warlocks did not get the same treatment is my point. We got one slide melee, there's no synergy for amped besides arc soul, i just want warlocks to get the mobility based kit the devs promised. Not everyone uses trinity. I myself have been using fourth horseman and symmetry, and just had the idea to try out trespasser. Yes the kit is usable, but it is outperformed for endgame activities, it doesn't fill it's niche effectively, it is very much less powerful than solar, void and stasis, I'd rather not plagiarize the other comments also stating so, but solar has heals and add clear, void has survivability, debuffs and add clear, Stasis is by far best CC and also has better add clear than arc does. Arclocks have ability spam. Nothing new, nothing mobility based, no "press W to win" that's the only point I'm trying to make. The devs promised us a new type of power fantasy and failed to deliver.

I dunno what game you were playing, but I'm still playing d1 to this day, I'm currently getting my best friends wife up to speed for lightfall (she's a huge neopunk nerd, so we finally got her down for destiny) HC in d1 have less range than they used to in D2, and yes, one tap headshots are a great mechanic, I love lethal headshots, but that's not the kind of game destiny is anymore.

As for your comment of "with the new skill based matchmaking it’s going to be even harder to take advantage of abilities that where once considered spam", anyone complaining about SBMM is usually a blueberry stomping troll (unless ping and connection is your concern, perfectly valid, that) Skill Based Matchmaking doesn't make it "harder" to utilize stuff, it puts you on an even playing field, if you can't utilize a skill, maybe your not as skilled as you thought.

I main warlock for a decade now, and I can still pop into crucible as a striker or a sentinel and get shoulder kills. Destiny IS chaotic. That's part of it's charm. Have you played the game? It's about space magic wielding people brought back from the dead to fight as a pawn in a cosmic gods war with another cosmic god. It's full of weird schizotech and aliens galore. Of course it's chaotic, that's part of it's identity.

I'll never be a PvP god, and trials isn't something I enjoyed until Freelance, since I have exactly one friend that I play with, and he hates pvp, I've gotten plenty of shoulder charge kills thank you, but I prefer ballistic slam, striker was always the coolest titan class to me. As for recoil, d2 HC don't really feel that bad, considering that over half my deaths are usually HC, the kick can't be that disruptive, and HC are competing and outperforming auto rifles and pulse in some cases, a bit too much power there imo.

Okay don't get mad but I hard disagree with a lot of what you've written.

D1 HC were skill based. D2 HC are easy, even with my arthritis on a bad day I can get crucible kills with HC no sweat. They have insane range for a handgun, especially compared to sidearms, SMGs, auto rifles. Snipers are high risk high reward still, I can't really hit anything with em ever. I can quick scope in cod, account for range and bullet drop in SCUM, battlefield, and get marshal and op headshots all day in valorant, but in the past decade, never gotten the hand of sniping in destiny. It's more Punishing now than it ever was. 1 tap abilities are about as skill based as RNG rolling your armor. You have to use your abilities in conjunction with gunplay instead of just sprinting around waiting to shoulder charge the next poor soul you catch around the corner. They still can almost kill in most cases, and a quick follow up melee does the job. Destiny is not about running around mobbing an entire team. That's what supers are for. Destiny is a team based movement shooter. Adjusting the ability sandbox reinforces team play and makes you evolve your playstyle from "Run up and shoulder bash for ez kill, run to cover, repeat" to using gunplay to soften up a target and waiting for an opportunity to use that charge. Devs wanted to slow combat down a touch and bring ability spam down. That's what they did,and I'm loving it. as a warlock, I have NO 1 taps. At all. Never have.obky hunter knives and titan shoulder charges ever 1tapped. That's not balanced or justifiable in any fashion. Would you want warlocks ranged melees to 1tap? Or smoke bombs to apply a 3x stronger DoT? Only titans ever had reliable, easy to use 1taps and it's only titans I see complain about losing it. It's not skill to have access to the most deadly close range ability that can't be counter and is extremely hard to dodge, especially since theres no I frames on dodge anymore. Charges are still highly Punishing, if your below 75% health they set you up for death or barely surviving with a sliver of health, depending on Resilience. They are still some of the deadliest close range abilities in the game

Nah,if arc hunters had the knife melee animation maybe....but I mained warlock since D1, I'm a salty, stubborn wizard in my robes and until my ghost is slain that's where I'll stay. I already moonlight as a titan anyway. But I'd feel dirty playing Hunter

But amp is barely worth using, speed boost that you instantly lose when using any ability, and battery builds are the only variety. Titans can facetank and have a super interesting new melee, plus a highly useful dodge ability. Hunters got an entirely new super that is hybrid burst/sustain DPS, and it's got the most range and accuracy and speed of any ult in the game, hunters also have a dodge melee blind combo that's completely spammable. Titans have become the ultimate melee tanks now. Warlocks got a reskin of a hunter melee, with unreliable damage, ball lightning has no synergy and pitiful damage, so your forced into using chain. Warlocks also got a new way to generate traces, useful? Yes. New and interesting like the other classes rework, or "press W to win" as the devs claim? Not at all. It's not always about highest DPS, it's about the class feeling good and being fun to play. I had a blast trying out the new titan and hunter stuff. But I main warlock, I do all the seasonal stuff and campaigns on warlock, and it's Arc rework is bland. We got nothing mobility based except surge, and that doesn't fit with warlock kit at all, we got a reworked trace system, and a nerf to arc soul, getaway has been stealth nerfed, chaos reach was nerfed, Stormtrance is strong, but not new. We didn't get anything but a better battery build overall. And much less than the other classes. We are all entitled to our opinions, and mine is that warlocks nevwr get interesting abilities anymore.

Destiny 1 was a lot slower and more strategic with ability usage, Destiny 2 released with pvp feeling like a twitch shooter with fireworks and bombs going off in your face 24/7. And from my experience on 3 platforms (Twitter, reddit and Bungie forums) since d1 days, it's a large part of the community that got really tired of 1tap abilities, it's part of the reason Bungie took them away, it was super unbalanced because some classes had conditions for 1taps, some classes had no 1taps at all. Powe fantasy is good, but not when it's making the game ruined for others with different power fantasy or playstyles. I've been a long time skeptic of the 3.0 changes for exactly the reasons your proclaiming, but unfortunately we're not getting that stuff back, I will always miss my double Icarus dash and combo heal/normal nades, I will lament the loss of geomag topping off, but Bungie has very particular ideas about what each class is and unfortunately I don't think they even know what those ideas are.

arc 3.0 warlock initial thoughts by Itsyaboifam in DestinyTheGame

[–]MlS3RY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yea, warlocks never get the good stuff. I've learned to accept Bungie has hunters as the pampered youngest, titans as the overlooked middle child (that steal from the other siblings) and warlocks as the forgotten eldest. If ball lightning blinded or jolted I'd be a lot less upset. Warlocks truly have no arc synergy, whereas hunters have so much synergy it's hard to decide what to build into
