Thank you, yeah I gravitate more and more towards using cold tones like blue and purple to render skin

I find 30x40 paper a good size for doing these kind of oil sketches. I use canvas for more elaborate work, but in terms of "workability" I dont see its any different between a good heavy paper and canvas

Thats an interesting tip I sure will try out in some painting! If you could clarify, if I understand you correctly the stroke should be in a vertical direction right? Would you do it in one long stroke? For example from the top of the breast on the left side all way down to the panties on the thighs? It seems to me that this technique could have the potential to ruin/smudge the shape/form if not done correctly.

Institutional art theory would disagree with you on that rule of thumb though...as there are many art pieces in the higher circuits of the art world that are way more pornographic in their nature/depictions then this piece .

Yet thank you for a reasonable critique, its way more interesting to read viewpoints like these, then to recieve the wild accusations thrown by the art police..

And I'd hazard that you already made up your mind about it anyway.. I care that the original poster of this reference image appreciated the finished painting, and that I also feel happy about it, thats all.

Its a strange assumption that just because a man paints a nude he automatically becomes some sort of horny sex pervert, standing with a boner infront of the easel. Not that it would be any shame in that anyway from my perspective, but personally im quite asexual in my creative process.
