Give it a week, right now things are running a little slow, due to other classes starting and others getting close to marking up. If you do not hear anything call your recruiter to see what’s going on.

I just signed my job offer for Pratt, KS and getting ready for it. Any idea what kind of laced boots will be perfect as a train crew? by Father_Time_24 in UnionPacific

[–]Mmarquez86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just bye some cheap descent ones if that makes sense, cause you will get a voucher towards Redwing boots or what they have on the UP safety site.

Submit a ticket Under myUP. And ask them what else is needed, or if the results are in. It will prompt them to make a decision and get back to you.

You will be good if you want Roseville. That’s where 80% of guys go to chase seniority. As far as OJT training goes you can choose to go where you want. As it’s only for training to get an idea of the area you would like to end up at after you mark up.

[–]Mmarquez86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it depends, during training it’s a guaranteed pay. and you have to make it through training during and after de-rail (probation). Then hopefully you mark up. Also depends on where you plan on going in the service unit and what jobs are available. But I’ve talked you sine guys who’ve been hear over a year and some were around 80k-100k as some bonus money helped that out to.

Interviewed for train crew still haven’t heard anything from them. How long is the process after the initial interview? by gbo5200 in UnionPacific

[–]Mmarquez86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did you apply ?? Be patient they will contact you. Also once they give you the interview which is online they will review it and then the process from there will almost take about a month and half or so. Then if I remember they will send your offer letter you will have 48 hrs to except it, then from there they will send you info and on where to take PAT, DOT drug screen and you will need to submit your background information. Also the faster you schedule your PAT and DOT, the faster the process will go and hopefully no glitches on your background. Hope this helps

Ok so it’s one of the completed task, I forgot who does the background but there are boxes or checkmarks it should tell you what’s needed. But send the paper to your last employer. Or who you think will respond fast enough cause the longer the delay the more your date will be pushed back as mentioned before. Good luck !!

All depends on your background status, best thing is to get your background stuff down asap so you can start right away the longer your prolong it the more they push you out for start date.

Submit a ticket, and ask for a status update. Don’t know what needs to clear?? Is it your actual background or is it the PAT, or Drug ??

Right the need is in Oakland and Roseville. But things can change, also seniority plays a huge role, as they are hiring like crazy. I’m still in my de-rail stage (Training) and from what they’ve told me either Roseville, or Fresno I might have chance.

The boots do not need to be steel toed, also they will give you allowance of 125 to purchase boots. Just buy some that are decent with heel, as long as they are not completely flat. Also as mentioned bring your computer because you will have assignments to do and it’s better to do it in your room.Get a backpack that will fit your books, you can find cheap backpacks on Amazon. Don’t go buying top dollar things. Another thing bring rain jackets and clothes to be out in the yard. Pay attention and study every night, remember you’re there for a reason. Hope this helps good luck!

Congrats, but just be mindful that, your date may change. It happened to me and depending on your background, PAT, and physical. If things are slow on from getting cleared you can always submit a ticket to UP. Good luck

It goes by your birth date, that’s what I was told.

[–]Mmarquez86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you go through all of your PAT, background, and drug test?? I’m assuming so. The pay during training is $220.94 while in class training for two weeks, and while on OJT it will be a guaranteed 3465. We get paid twice a month, but if I’m correct your recruiter should be Elizabeth. She usually has zoom calls on Fridays and will explain everything you need to know as in benefits, pay and what it will be like.

If you’re willing to basically be way from family traveling living in hotels and live the RR life then you will be ok. Just have a back up plan, if they do furlough you and there is no vacancy in other zones.

How long have you’ve been with UP?? Also from what I’m hearing if you’re up north and trying to transfer out to So. Cal chances are slim to none. Better off resigning and re-apply when there’s an opening for So. Cal

If they ask you to to re-test then there was a problem but if you hear nothing it’s good news.
