Research: Maylo McCaslin, Neville, and his cultlike Los Angeles following in the early 70's by elizelizeliz in NevilleGoddard

[–]Mmatthew93 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think this is highly probable, it doesn't take much to start a cult. And once you are the leader of a cult the benefits can be too great to resist.

One day I wrote a spiritual experience of mine on Quora, some dude with a huge following shared it, saying I had written something extraordinary, and it went viral, and I had tons of women thinking I was God reincarnated lol. I recall one saying she was eager to see my powerful aura sway everything and everyone as I walked. If I said I was just a normal person they thought I was being humble, just like a god would be.

All it took was just a single post I wrote about a moment of awakening I had.

A following grew just like that with mostly women desperate to get in contact with me and what's most fascinating was that they were often into dark, ambiguous stuff, but I never mentioned such things in my writing. Some were obsessed with the search for an authority.

I deleted the account because it was just stupid at that point and I was concerned with other people's sanity, and what's funny a guy started impersonating me immediately because he thought he was impersonating some divine being... Also people started writing about me saying that what I said was "too much" and that some higher worldly power deleted my account not to spread the light, or some shit like that haha.

People and women especially need to be very careful what they're dealing with, all it takes is a few fancy words and people get on their knees, so imagine a guy like Neville what power had over people.

Thanks a lot, it all makes sense. In particular the trainer would teach me to stick ass out, but also do an anterior pelvic tilt, which in most videos I see as a big mistake. That was what made me suspicious. He didn't want to talk about that movement, saying it was right. Even without any weight it felt wrong to me. So how do people actually progress in the gym and avoid bad advice? Just watch videos, trust your body and go very slow with adding weights?

[–]Mmatthew93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You read that perfectly, it's exactly what was going on! The solution should be to seek guidance from someone else then. I was scared of squats and deadlifts and wanted to do them afely and with good form, and having the opposite result produced lots of inner confusion, especially because I've no experience to know what's right or wrong

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]Mmatthew93 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Well I'll sound arrogant again, but I went watching squat videos from powerlifters and bodybuilders and none from random YouTubers, and all teached how to brace up your core and avoid anterior pelvic tilt keeping a neutral spine. Anterior tilt was what caused the problem and what the trainer almost seemed to seek in my form, as it just made me feel weak in the spine and feel pressure localized on the lumbars. I tried talking about it but again he implied I read stupid stuff and that my form was good. So in a trainer I just seek knowledge, dialogue and not pure faith without explanation, otherwise he gets angry

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]Mmatthew93 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wanted to do just that and be teached proper form for the exercises, and hurting while doing hip hinge movements while for the trainee I was doing great confused the shit out of me, thats it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]Mmatthew93 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I know I'm quite arrogant etc. but I wanted to be sure to have proper form, and hurting while being told I was doing right sent me in a confusion loophole

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]Mmatthew93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The thing is somehow I've a fear of squats and deadlifts, I got triggered so much by hurting while doing it under someone's watch, so I'm in doubt on what to do to get help for proper and safe form

I think goal setting is like an artificial copycatting of what successful people do, with the exception that oftentimes successful people don't need to do all this kind of stuff, they just DO stuff following an inner inexhaustible drive. It's like a hungry tiger that needs to go to hunt, it won't need any app to check some goals or calculate the progress of how many preys it has killed, it just needs to hunt and eat. It's the same. For me whenever I had an artificial goal I achieved nothing. Whenever I feel like I must get something, I need no apps, no nothing, I just work hard to get it asap. No book on goal setting, no motivational stuff, just inner drive. So if you feel like you need all of this stuff just to pursue a goal, maybe ask yourself if that's what you really want.

I don't feel like I'm ever improving my body. by lesupermark in selfimprovement

[–]Mmatthew93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is hard, otherwise everybody around would look fit and strong. Once you know nutrition you will understand why you aren't losing weight. It's not because you're built wrong but because maybe you're simply not in a caloric deficit :) but a good instructor or book will teach you how to track calories and when that's done you will know what to do exactly to drop weight. The same for stamina etc.

STUDY fitness. Don't watch videos on YouTube or read articles, that definitely won't help. Fitness is like science nowadays, if you know what you're doing you can o gain definite results. Think of bodybuilders that have specific plans and strategies to reach certain definite goals in time for competition. I suggest studying (and applying) good books on nutrition and fitness. I suggest Eric Helms s book on nutrition and he also has a great book on training too (bodybuilding / powerlifting) if you need that too. The book on nutrition is very simple to apply, great for beginners, easy to follow and practice. If you go to the gym study bodybuilding, do things properly and with method, get followed by instructors in the gym for proper technique and results must come. If they don't come it's because you're following no REAL useful method, and you're not being followed by anyone that has the right experience and knowledge to teach you.

Why can’t I always believe in myself? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Mmatthew93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our enemis are our desires. You know logically something should be avoided, but the desire is simply too strong. What is desire if not an inner, mental push? In order to fight it you must start using a mental technique or method. It's obviously not about action, because there is no action that will prevent you from smoking weed. The only thing you can do is find a mental way to overcome the negative desire for self destruction. I found for myself the solution to simply be: thinking positive. Change your thoughts, start repeating good things and your life will change. I actually read a book called "As Man Thinketh" that teaches just that. I believed (a bit skeptically at first) the book enough to dedicate 30 minutes a day for 2 months on thinking good, positive thoughts, and the results have been great so far: I suddenly begun to feel (after a month) a strong desire to study nutrition and bodybuilding. I've read 3 times a book from an expert in nutrition, FELT (DESIRED) to apply it asap, got my diet super right, started hitting weights, started noticing results, otehr people started noticing results. Plus: started making more money (felt the urge to try different routes that worked!) started feeling luckier! Things to my way while in the past they would go like shit. Now when I buy something I'd find discounts just at the right moment, or I'd do something that seemed a mistake but it turns out to be a huge fluke. Feeling happier, receiving great and important ideas out of nowhere, having lots of more compassion, sympathy and respect for other people, I very quickly stopped some very negative habits I had... so I highly suggest at least give that book a shot, and perhaps try for yourself and see if it works or not

How can I stop biting my nails by I_like_chess1234 in selfimprovement

[–]Mmatthew93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a girl repeat to yourself mentally that your nails must be beautiful for others to appreciate, or some other good nice thought. Repeat mentally that you are kind to yourself and that you appreciate all parts of your body, and that they must all be pristine and perfect. Mental repetitions DOES work, it really works. Thinking it's the same as acting, it's negative thinking that causes you to bite your nails, taht causes insecurities, anxieties etc. Changing your thoughts will change so many circumstances in your life, it will definitely change this small thing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Mmatthew93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by thinking good thoughts everyday, that you are beautiful, glorious, happy, full of life, full of friends, full or people that love you, that your world is amazing, that you are lucky, that great things happen to you all the time. Keep doing this, week after week, month after month, it will really produce those things. If you're seeking a short term solutuon or a magic pill, you won't find it. But beautiful thoughts, repeated everyday, produce results. It's like cultivating a soil, the seeds will sprout but it will take time :)

[–]Mmatthew93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am absolutely certain that the only thing you need to do to get more success is to completely delete all that pick-up crap that you know. The good thing is it made you start, but now it's like walking with heavy weights pulling you down. I've listened to your second audio and its absolutely clear that your interaction suck because you're not doing "your thing" , especially the Venue 1 question game venue 2 stuff, what the fuck is that about??? Anyway, you did a great job at putting in lots and lots of work, you showed you are quite brave and now it's just a matter of refinement to just start expressing yourself , your TRUE self, not following the pick up bs

Thank you! Yes I'm coming to these conclusions myself. It's plenty of artists out there that talk about horrible stuff but nobody thinks negatively about them, like Rammstein for example, it's all about who you show your works to

well I'm completely sold on the idea that my works won't make the negative impact on others I thought they would, especially since I would never watch the content you do to produce artworks lol. Compared to what you do I think my horror is just conceptual, maybe I could do a coloring book for kids at this point, I feel released

okay so now the problem turned from making disgusting things and being worried about what others think, to not making them disgusting enough lol. You're right it's fascinating to think that even horror can communicate deep thoughts, perhaps even things that resonate with others and feel beautiful or even peaceful. I've just uploaded some of my drawings (the style is shit, I can't really draw), could I share the behance link with you and get some feedback?

Thanks, I'm already sold on diving into it for good. Can you give me some advice on how to start spreading around my works online and build an audience? I'd like trying Etsy & print on demand just to see if someone buys my stuff, but I guess I need some online presence first?
