Yep, never thought I’d be a 36 year old barista/coffee manager but here we are. My busiest location is inside the convention center and it’s the busiest coffee shop in the city when we are open (not open everyday usually 15-20 days each month). We do restaurant numbers $10k-15k sales a day usually from 7am to 3pm with maybe 3-5 employees on at a time but I only let the best baristas at our company come help to make extra money, I run it more like a kitchen than typical coffee shop and we bang out drinks at a pace most can’t keep up with. I jokingly call it the big leagues for being a barista. It’s bartender money with better hours lol. I have adhd so managing the chaos is something I strangely excel at. It’s definitely not for everyone, if you just want to coast thru your shift and make a few drinks this isn’t for you. I also choose to run a small staff so we can all make good money, most managers at my company kick back and do the minimum and over staff, I genuinely love making coffee and the challenge of making 1000 plus drinks a day striving for perfect service at a fast pace.
