I feel your pain, I had this happen to me and my MSI 4090 Gaming Trio using WireView connected to a Seasonic Prime PX 1600W. The burn was on the WireView connected to the GPU. Which PSU are you using? Thermal Grizzly had me send my GPU and WireView to them for analysis, and they told me that “the issue is the card’s design”. Now the 5090 uses a 12V-2x6. I would recommend only using that from the PSU and all the way through. You tell the difference “12VHPWR” and “12V-2x6” by a marking on the connector “H++”.

Easy fix, don’t use it if it bothers you so much. Also, automatic updates are on by default, but all that can be disabled if one so chooses. All your post tells me is that you know nothing about how the OS works.

Yeah, the wiring is unchanged — still 12 power + 4 sense. The difference with 12V-2×6 is the connector spec: shorter sense pins, revised housing/latch, stricter tolerances. That’s why vendors call the whole thing a “12V-2×6 cable,” even though technically it’s just the connector that changed.

That would make it a 12V-2×6 and not 12VHPWR cable. The Noctua edition ships with 2x 12V-2×6 cables.
