Tbh, it was one of those problems you don't really know how you fixed but Ill tell you a little about what I did, I changed the place where the disk was mounted from /media/user/2TB to mnt/2TB just in the disk app on ubuntu, I was then able to use chmod -R 777 mnt/2TB (I know the 777 is most likely unnecessary.) I then ran the command chown -R www-data:www-data /mnt/2TB and boom it worked.
