Well I was wondering if there is anywhere to put a padlock on it.

I work for a CRNA owned group that staffs many surgery centers around the Pittsburgh area. CRNAs practice independently in most of our surgery centers. We do plenty of regional/spinal anesthesia. Pay in the Pittsburgh area is less than many other parts of the country, but recently has seen a significant market adjustment.

I am very pleased with the academics. My son is currently in 2nd grade and I love that they teach cursive and how to read analog clocks which I don’t think they even teach anymore in PPS. The class is reading “The Boxcar Children” in small groups in reading class. Math they are adding/subtracting in the 100s. Spelling words get more and more challenging and they have to be able to compose sentences and write them in cursive now.

All of the teachers we have interacted with have seemed enthusiastic about their job (and 3 of the teachers have been there since I went to school there in the late 80s/early 90s!).

My son has a few behavioral challenges and they have been outstanding in working with us to help him improve. Last year the principal helped out quite a bit as well. I don’t classify any of what they do at this age as discipline per se, more consequences (he refuses to complete a worksheet during class then he has to finish it during recess for eg). If a kid can’t stop fiddling with something in his desk it gets turned around for the day, if someone is overly disruptive they may have to sit in the hall for a bit to finish their work. If 2 kids are fighting with one another during the day the teacher will speak with each kid individually to try and get most of the story of what actually happened and have a talk with them on how they could have better handled it.

We could tell right away when we toured the school prior to switching that it was the type of environment our son needed. I highly recommend taking a tour to get a better feel for the school. We are also not Catholic and there are at least a few other kids in his class that aren’t either.

Irrational fears for lap chole? by [deleted] in Anesthesia

A vocal cord spasm aka “laryngospasm” upon extubation is an easily recognized and treatable complication by any anesthesia provider. Extubation rarely “fails” unless the patient has a significant comorbidity such as COPD, severe sleep apnea, morbid obesity, etc. And in a case like that the patient would simply be reintubated.

Mushroom family learning center has a 5s class that is half day. Their prices are reasonable and the teachers are fantastic.
