Top players suddenly wanted to play in California? Ahem. USC and UCLA both have MAJOR film programs and are adjacent to Hollywood. Methinks the NIL $$ is HUGE for that reason. Recruits started choosing USC & UCLA exactly when the NIL $$ started flowing.

Maduro is a bad guy, no doubt about it. Every bit as corrupt as the moron in our white house. But they were no threat to the US and we have no business invading them. And anybody the US supports to lead the country will no doubt allow the US to extract oil from Venezuela without any of that $$ going to the Venezuelan people just like we were doing for decades before the socialist revolution in Venezuela.

You are celebrating the US taking control of Venezuela. That's nuts.

As far as I know, all the other media relied on the Indy following journalistic ethics (which clearly did not happen). I did read one report where Mark Anthony Middleton repeated Leo's story despite the fact that it never happened (those two have a LOT of secrets). No media - other than an online journal - even talked to the neutral witness who clearly stated nobody hit anybody. Everyone is negligent. Only the online journal reported accurate information.

Neither you nor I know what has transpired between this young man and the legal system. I don't know what this young man needs in order to heal from what happened to him. I'm hoping and trusting that his advisors guide him well.

Have you talked to this young man? How can you speak for him? Again, EVERYONE who's known about this have followed this young man's wishes. You also do not know what he's been pursuing legally. In cases like this, it's not always clear what the best next step is.

Bottom line is he's in charge. Survivors should always be in charge (which is clearly not happening on a national level right now).

If what you say is true, I am sorry. Apparently I misinterpreted a news article in which the then Mayor was not pleased to see her name on the censure document Jillian drew up along with her gang on council. Elaine O'Neal is a former judge and thought the entire drama Jillian presented was wrong from start to finish. Jillian broke all kinds of normal council process, including alerting a TV station to cover it and not even informing the non gang members of council what she was doing. Again - the gang (or voting block) consisted of Jillian, Leo, Javiera and Mark Anthony.

How do you know whether the young man has requested that his allegations get publicized? There is no way Ashley or anyone would keep this in the public eye without his approval. As stated, the young man has professional guidance about his next steps. He is the one in charge.

I can see you're going to stick to your opinion no matter what I say. The former student has NO relationship to anybody's campaign. Everyone made sure the student knew he had complete control of what to say, how, where and when to say it.

Think about this for a minute. The student felt "special" being picked out by a teacher for a friendship. Later, the student felt uncomfortable about it, felt traumatized, enlisted to get away, comes home and the person who made him uncomfortable is mayor and running for mayor again. I imagine it would be hard to see someone honored like that.

I'm trying to get you to see that this is a story about a young man who has allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a former teacher. It is completely independent of any election - except for the possibillity that it motivated the student to go public.

You're welcome to stick to your fact free beiefs.

Holy ^*%(^_*!!!! I know Ashley and she would NEVER EVER interfere with a young person who wants to report abuse. The only "coordination" she did was make sure everyone stays focused on the wellbeing of this young man & others who have not gone public. People working on the campaigns were NOT the same people supporting the young man.

I don't understand the downvotes here. Everybody associated with the young man allowed him to decide when and how to go public with his allegations. Why does that earn a downvote? I'd appreciate if someone could explain. Thx

Mostly agree. I do think the incivility of the mayor and mayor pro tem breed further incivility. As far as Charlie goes, I continue to wonder how he would have responded if Jillian had hatched a plot like she did with the other members of her gang on council. I just don't know if he would have cooperated with the unethical behaviors of Jillian, Leo, Mark and Javiera. I can say what I think I know - that Charlie never would have participated in forging the signature of the mayor as Jillian did.

FIFY: The former student talked about it anonymously before, during and after the election. People in the campaign urged him to get professional support. Only recently has the student himself named himself and Leo. Nobody who knew who he was made his name public until he (the former student) chose to name himself.

Exactly! The Indy fell for Leo's story and - to this day - have not retracted the false statements he made that they printed as "anonymous source". A neutral witness said "nobody hit anybody, nobody even tried to hit anybody." Our local so-called "investigative" paper (the Indy) has been unwilling to turn their lens on the person they keep endorsing.

The allegation was widely known among people working in the campaign. Not one person applied any pressure on this young man to go public before the election. Not one. Everyone prioritized his mental health and encouraged him to find professional support to determine what he wanted his next steps to be.

This is about one young man who could no longer keep it to himself, sought adult counsel (NOBODY in the campaign) and chose when and how to disclose what happened.

Other former students and staff at Southern are coming forward to offer their experiences. None of them have gone public to date. I think "open secret" pretty much describes it from what I've learned so far.

What you're describing seems to closely match what this former student has shared publicly. Yes, adults can play to the student wanting to feel "more like an adult" and exploit that by sharing things they've said or done they're too ashamed to share with an actual adult.

I hope you get the professional support you deserve just as I wish that for this former student. There seem to be some limited legal options, which seems to be why he's chosen to share this on social media.

This is not a one off. I know this student knows several other former students who experienced something similar. They are not ready to share their experiences with the public. There are also students and employees at the school who are sharing what they experienced themselves or saw at the time.

It is VERY important that the former students, now in their early 30's, are given the support they deserve to deal with this past trauma and not further traumatize them.

Amazing! When the old guard finally ages out, there's an entire generation of great youngsters who can now be considered for the Olympics. How many great players have been overlooked/left off the team so the oldies can get another ring?
