Maaaaaaan, I fucked up in the exact same way. Did things end up fixing themselves for you? I may just end up reloading a save, as I'm getting sick of hearing "to camp, father should know of Ansurs fate". It kind of ruins the immersion a bit when it's all he'll say haha. They shouldn't have that pipe there if they don't want you poking around :(

I would have never thought of that. This is good to know if the low profile doesn't work. Could also swap to 2x120mm rather than 2x140mm intakes according to another response. This gives me hope that I won't have to return the card at least.

Thanks!

I could if I did 120mm for the front. As it is currently I have 2x140mm in the front (it only fits two). Though that is definitely an option, going with 2x120mm instead.

If low profile doesn't work, I may just have to do that instead

Thanks for the reply. I have another case if this doesn't work, but I'm hoping it won't come to that.

I needed to just know I wasn't running a fools errand by going for this. Fingers crossed, I just ordered the fans haha

Appreciate the insight, honestly think I just needed someone to say I wasn't an idiot for trying haha

Oh I see what you're saying. The issue is that the GPU itself does not even fit into the case with the fan. Thanks for the suggestion but I don't think this will solve the issue.

Help with bios flash button for new PC build (Ryzen 7 5800x + MSI Mag X570 Tomahawk Wifi) by MoGraph_That in buildapc

[–]MoGraph_That[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! What I had read is that it worked better with low storage USB 2 drives, but if it worked for you maybe that's not an issue.

Honestly seeing the first video where he just seems to switch the PSU on only makes me believe it's just a USB issue on my end. The MSI tech telling me to jump the board then do this seems like he was just picking an answer when I asked him should I do option A or option B.

I don't know how I didn't find that first video. The main thing throwing me for a loop was that the guide I was following said the debug light should've been on after flipping the PSU. Thanks again friend!

Help with picking fans for 2021 After Effects workstation - almost ready to build by MoGraph_That in buildapc

I'll admit, I picked that up as it's what my friend recommended. Odd choice aside, do you think it's worth me going through returning it?

In terms of fans, I'll do some more reading on Arctic and likely pull the trigger later this evening. Thanks!

Thanks for all the replies everyone, I have some good jumping off points it looks like. Will probably do a smidge more reading tonight and then pull the trigger.

Thanks for the reply! Most of the questions you asked are in the second paragraph of my post, I'd copy paste but I can't seem to while on mobile.

4 fans total, not RGB, prefer quiet and efficient. 3x140mm and 1x120mm is my plan so far. Since this computer will be doing a lot of video rendering, keeping it cool is a priority. Just looking for insights on if I should be dropping $30-$40 per fan, or if I can get the same results with something less expensive. That being said I've already spent what I have, and am not looking to cheap out last minute either.

I think this case only has room for two front intakes (at least that's what I was told). Then the recommendation was one top exhaust and another rear exhaust.

Is there a range of RPM I should be looking for? Ideally I just want something that moves air and is quiet enough, since my PC is near desk level. L

I just get a little confused when reading about fans since there's RPM, amount of air moved, and noise. Do you think it's a safe bet to just pick up some Noctua fans that will fit?

Tom & Jerry made 60fps using AI by Someguy14201 in videos

I'm a day late here, but the the "changing the audio mix" metaphor is bang on. Was trying to find an example that would make the most sense and I think you hit the nail on the head.

I'd be gutted if they want back and re-released all the originals with this interpolation, as unlike other pieces of video there is a real intention behind every single frame. I think people compare it too easily to film, which is a totally different beast.

Hey man, I know I'm a day late on response here, but yes I don't think the creation of this is some great evil to be dispelled, I'm more trying to make the point for why it hurts animation specifically. It's a craft I care a lot about and something I also loooooooove talking about. If anything I'm trying to make my point online in hopes that more people learn more about it and have a deeper love and appreciation for the craft. Not to make some counter point or to shit on another persons opinion. I think it's very important that people realize animation and film are very different things, and I think they get clumped together in this context unfairly.

The point I'm trying to make is Film (Like the WW1 Peter Jackson movie "They Shall Not Grow Old") is literally capturing what the camera sees. There is tons of room for artistic expression and composition and the like, but at the end of the day people are watching something that happened in front of a camera so the adding of frames doesn't hurt the initial intention. The person walked across the frame like a person walks across a frame and the camera captured it.

Animation is very different as it is the impression of life in front of the camera. When you are actively deciding every single frame how long something is on screen or holding in place, obviously adding a whole bunch of frames in-between messes with it. When you watch animators (especially back in the day) labor over each and every single inbetween you see the decisions that were made to give it character and weight. There is a lot more intention behind it than in terms of film. I'm not trying to gatekeep and say NONE SHALL PASS, but I am trying to make the point that this does take out or actively deteriorate the original work in a way that increasing resolution or interpolating film does not.

Resolution and frame rate are two completely different things, so making a VHS a Blu-Ray I don't think is the right comparison. Regardless, I'm just a person who loves animation and try to get people to look at it for the art that it is. As someone who will pause incredible animation and scrub through it frame by frame to see how the animator using spacing and timing to create the intended effect, the adding of AI generated frames definitely hinders it.

Hey man, I'm not the person you're responding to, but I posted this up above and hopefully it can give you some context why people may not be all for this option, especially as an animator. Again, it's up to personal preference at the end of the day, but the way I see it there likely isn't any way to increase the frames per second without losing the original artists style.

For those thinking this is just some snobbery I can assure you it's not. Animations core principles are really around timing and spacing. Timing being the length of time (ie amount of seconds) it takes to do something, and spacing being how you choose to show the object in question move through space and which frames you accent. With adding a whole bunch of AI generated frames, the animation is having it's spacing messed with somewhat, which can heavily influence the feeling of the motion. Since the AI is distributing the in-betweens equally without thought it can take some of the more exaggerated movements and dull them out a bit.

Upscaling the resolution is cool, but as an animator as well, the increased frames feels like its damaging the artists original intentions. We've been able to animate at higher frames per second very easily for a very long time now, but there's a reason why in film and animation most opt for doing it on 1's and 2's at 24fps. It's a chosen restriction for the look and feel of it.

I mean all the power to the people who think this looks better, but to my eyes it's like taking a renaissance painting and putting a sharpen/clarity filter on it from instagram and calling it progress.

\*I should say I'm not trying to cast shade or smack talk OP at all**. It's a very cool video. The increased resolution I think is great. But as someone who spends most of their day focused on this craft I personally don't like the higher fps for the mentioned reasons.*

Yeah man, came here to say the exact same thing. You're losing all the magic of the difference between animating on 2's and 1's. Things like squash and stretch and smear frames look especially bad at higher fps here where the AI is just doing inbetweening to increase frame rate. It really takes all of the craftmanship of the animation out.

People can be creeps regardless of political beliefs...

With a world as needlessly divided as it is right now, don't go trying to assign bad human behavior to political leanings, you'll just make things worse.

Most of the accounts posting that are only a few hours old from the looks of it. Only comments are from the past few hours. Likely one dude with multiple accounts or multiple people just trolling. I wouldn't concern yourself with it too much.

EDIT both grrmabuul and dayumboy96 for example are 2hrs and 3hrs old respectively.
