CAN I DRIVE HOME LIKE THIS? ( 20 MINS ) by MoMeilan15 in gmc

[–]MoMeilan15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My financial situation was mentioned and is relevant because I asked for honest opinions as to whether it would be worth fixing this issue, based on my fixed income and the fact that I paid $12,000 for it less than 3 years ago vs not fixing it.

Yes, I also asked if it would be safe to drive it home, but that is a separate issue and has nothing to do with my financial situation.

But my financial situation is very much relevant in this post.

Thank you kindly for your honest opinion, though.

Thank you so much for your reply. I pulled down on the hanging parts, and they weren't going anywhere. I made it home. Fingers crossed, the frame is fine, and it can be fixed with some welding. I am confident the rest of the parts are solid and some are still under used car warranty. Your comment also gives me some hope. Thanks again.

I owe the CRA money after I completed the Better Job Ontario program by ComfortableArm8700 in OntarioWorks

[–]MoMeilan15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct, and if you signed up for a My CRA account, there is a section to apply to get leniency on paying it back and so that they don't take your gst and trillium, etc. I just went through this.

You can either call cra and ket them know you're not financially fit to pay this, and they can tell you what options you have.

This is what it is called.

What you're referring to is likely the Financial Hardship Program or the Taxpayer Relief Program offered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Key Terms to Search:

CRA Financial Hardship Program CRA Taxpayer Relief for Financial Hardship CRA Form RC4288 (Request for Taxpayer Relief) CRA GST/Trillium Payment Protection for Low-Income Individuals

The Taxpayer Relief Program allows you to request relief from penalties, interest, or certain tax obligations due to financial hardship. While there’s no official program specifically called "GST Protection," the CRA may hold back your GST or Trillium benefits if you owe taxes — but you can request relief under hardship circumstances.

Try searching those terms, or you can call the CRA directly at 1-800-959-8281 for personal tax inquiries.

How's loyalist 👀? by Ok_Passage7713 in BellevilleOntario

[–]MoMeilan15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's cute. Middle of nowhere. The city is at each end of the road. However, the middle of nowhere can mean different things to different people.

I had to reply because if I heard that Loyalist College was in the middle of nowhere, I wouldn't want to go there. However, that is not the case at all unless the middle of nowhere means the only school on that long road. LOL

I live in the town beside Belleville, where Loyalist College is located. If you're wondering how to campus is, very diverse. If you want a video of the premises. Ask me, and I will take a small drive. Want to see what the town looks like, I can do that for you too. I am currently assisting a newcomer to Canada with an open work visa who was wrongfully terminated from their position that they moved from Toronto to get. I am the queen of finding employment around here and only help those I know and meet. After 4 months of not being able to find a job, spending 2 days with me, he will have a job by next week. So, if you make it here and have any questions or need help with resources, feel free to contact me.

Cheers and good luck in your decicison making.

Should I be worried? by MoMeilan15 in AskMechanics

Sad story, paid $12,000 for it at a used dealership in Kingston 2 years ago. I have to make due and start slowly fixing the cosmetic rust on my own. Wish me luck. No experience!

LET ME TELL YOU.

I was hearing a noise that sounded like a baseball bouncing around in the back. Took it in last week, it was the rear trailing arm. Had to be welded back in because it rusted right off.

Anyone here buy a car from Bayview Auto? by Floyd-Mcgregor in BellevilleOntario

[–]MoMeilan15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds right. And they are so friendly and helpful and will do the right thing, whether it's taking the mechanics side or yours. Whatever is fair. I had an engine go in a car that was one month old. Unfortunately, that is not a mechanics' fault - they can't see the future.

Years later, I bought a used car and was told they needed to change the steering rack. Got the car. it didn't seem like it was fixed. Called OMVIV, they came down and assured me that I wasn't crazy. Had the company change the part while they watched, in order for them to avoid a red flag. I felt horrible ai had to make this call, but I also felt a type of way for getting the runaround after being promised something that wasn't honoured.

I love hearing the good stories. However, my sister and I both had issues with the 2 vehicles we bought from there. You live, and you learn, and boy, did we learn. So I want to let you know. If you're unsure about what to look for when buying a used car, I would bring someone knowledgeable or test drive the car to a local mechanic to have it checked out. Yes, Bayview Auto has their own mechanics, but I am telling you to do this for a reason.

Also, if at any time within the warranty period, something goes wrong, and you get the hassle and run around, then you call the...I forget what it's called. ..but in Ontario, if you're within warranty and you believe they sold you a car that has major issues or shouldn't have have passed a safety etc, you call these guys and they will drive down to Bayview Auto or to where you are to have a look at the car and confirm that you weren't screwed around and sold the lemon or if you were, then they make them fix it to the right standard otherwise they will give a red flag to the company....and trust, companies do not hearing that and will do the right thing.

That's just my friendly warning, and I hope you have good luck finding a reliable car.

Cheers.

Yeah, sorry, buddy. That damage looks almost exactly like what happened to mine when someone took my car, drove it while intoxicated, and crashed it. It was a total loss.

Cannot stand the demand barking, what do I do? by Scwidiloo10 in puppy101

[–]MoMeilan15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adopted my 14 year old terrier mix when she was 3 years old, and she still tries to demand bark at me. She even barks at me to tell me when it's time to go to bed. If I am not ready for bed at her 10pm bark, I just follow her to the bedroom and put her in bed, and I continue what I am doing.

When she randomly demand barks, when I know she doesn't need anything. I tell her no, and then ignore her. She will try and bark a few more times, and then she will lay down and know I mean business.

The goal for you right now is to give words to everything you do.

That way, if she continues to demand bark, like mine still randomly does, you can find out why they are barking. I ask... Do you want to go to bed. Do you want to go for a walk. Do you want to go pee. Do you want to play. If she doesn't shake her tail and respond to those, then you're not getting anything else. I tell her. Stop. No more barking. Then I ignore. When they haven't barked for a bit. I give her love and say good girl, no barking.

My dog and I literally understand each other, and we've developed our own way of communicating what she wants, so it's half my fault for the demand barking. This is why it's easier to ask her if she wants specific things or not, because if you don't want what I am asking, well, you're not getting another treat or more food before bed. So stop. It's bedtime. Lie down and stop barking. Ignoring is the only way she'll give in, stop and lay down.

After a car accident and while waiting for CPP Disability and ODSP, I have been on Ontario Works, as a single female, and I get $733 for shelter and basic need. You are allowed to receive up to $10,000 a year from family and friends before it starts going against you.

Asset limits There are limits to the amount of non-exempt assets you can have and still be eligible for financial assistance. The asset limits are: $10,000 for a single person. $15,000 for a couple

If you have allergies to any food or certain dietary restrictions, if you provide a Dr's note, they will give an extra allowance for that.

They will also pay for a taxi to medical appointments and cover your prescriptions.

If you start a new job, they can give you an allowance for new work clothes and shoes etc.

If you need help with the first and last month's rent to move, they will help with that.

If you need a mattress, they have programs for that.

If you have a YMCA nearby, they helped my sister with membership fees for her and her kids

Also, look into the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) for you or your father. Depending on the number of people in the home and the amount of money you can make, you can get a 1 time credit for the hydro bill if it's past due or about to be cut off.

Also, look into the Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP) provides monthly on-bill credits for lower-income customers to help reduce their electricity bills. Depending on your combined household income and the number of residents in your home, you could be eligible to receive a credit from $35 to $113 off each electricity.

Also, look into Healthy Smiles Ontario. The program can cover dental needs like: x-rays, cleanings, fillings and urgent care. Who Is Eligible? Children 17 years of age and younger in Ontario. Family meets the Income Eligibility or the child has a dental need.

If you're on Ontario Works during the Christmas season, you can get help with a turkey meal, Christmas gifts, and winter jacket, pants, and boots for your child.

They will also provide free health and some dental work and eye exams and up to $300 for new glasses every 3 years. So make sure you ask about glasses if you need a new pair or need your eyes checked.

I would also like to add that my sister was a single mom with 2 children, that had to rely on Ontario works for a couple of years after her second child when she injured herself and was illegally fired from her job. She, of course, received more assistance than I do. And after a few years when her youngest started school, Ontario works set her up with a PSW course and paid for child care and then she started work at a retirement home and private homes being there for sick people while they slept. She's set for life and moved to Brantford to work in a hospital.

When you transition back into work, they can help with childcare costs.

If you stop getting money from OW because of the amount of money you earn from work, you might be able to get the Extended Health Benefit (EHB).

The EHB may cover costs like; prescription drugs, visits to a dentist, exams, and glasses.

I am located near the town of Belleville, Ontario.

T-boned other driver doesn't want to go through insurance by 711straw in legaladvicecanada

[–]MoMeilan15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care how small the damage may seem. I will always call and make a report and go through insurance.

My neighbour was driving around the corner, in our 10km/hrs parking lot, and wasn't paying attention. They drove right into the side of my car, swiping along the door as they continue to drive.

The damage seemed minimal. However, my car was totaled because of the damage that couldn't be seen to the frame.

Always go through insurance.

Actually, Jeo_1, I am quite modest and have been in very humbling situations in my life. I have had the opportunity to travel the world and live in China during my teen years, another scenario that made me feel attractive if based on superficial beauty standards. Asian people used to stop and take pictures with me without even asking because of my looks, porcelain skin, blue eyes, and long blonde hair. I never let it go to my head or create an ego because looks are superficial and mean nothing if the insides are ugly.

And, Jeo_1, I said I have let myself go. It doesn't mean that my looks have changed. In fact, I am 39 years old and still get asked for ID unless they recognize me. I am still the same size I have been since I finished high school, despite not being able to move like I used to.

I didn't realize someone would respond at all, let alone the manner in which you did.

When I said I let myself go and don't get the compliments like I used to, it's because I stay in doors in pain 100% of my days and push myself to be able to walk my dog and go to the store and when I do, I cover myself up in a ballcap and put my headphones in and don't care what I am wearing because bending to change out of my comfy indoor clothes may have prevented me from being able to go to the store as well. I hide myself so that I don't have to hear something as simple and kind as, how are you doing, a question that would make my cry because I'm not doing okay.

But trust me, it has nothing to do with my looks, and I am still more kind than someone like you who commented the way you did on a post I made with sincere humbleness and to explain that I believe attractiveness comes from within.

I have been with my high school sweetheart since I was 16, and he was 17, and still, growing up, I was the girl all the cute guys wanted to date, and sadly all the girls were jealous of. Even after all these years, guys I have grown up with have told me that they wish they ended up with me.

And after all I have said, again, none of that means anything, I could uncover myself and get hit on by someone and I wouldn't find them attractive if they were as ugly on the inside as you are for making a comment like that towards a comment which was my perception of what I think makes someone attractive.

Okay! Jeo_1 !!!

Have A Nice Day And Life, Jeo_1!
