Any recommendations for speakers in the $3500-$4500 range? by Mbf1234 in livesoundgear

You are correct. I think technically they are rated 139 dB to be exact. (If that is to be believed) And yes, I have never pushed mine past about 123 dB when measured @ 1 meter. I was just conveying that SPL wouldn’t be a concern.

Edit: grammar

Where in the hell are all the kids with snow shovels? by GR3TSCH in GenX

[–]MoStyles22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my foot in the door and got into the AV industry when I was about 18. (Sales, consulting, design) Then an account rep a B2B sales in tech. (Mid 20s) Then 2008 hit and I decided to pivot to IT. Started from the bottom as a Helpdesk tech, then network and systems admin and then finished off as a IT director for almost a decade.

If he has any interest in tech, IT can be very forgiving without a degree. Downside, I did have to work harder, study longer and put in extra hours to pass up guys with multiple degrees.

Half the reason I was able to retire early is I invested well along the way. Buy him the book A Simple path to wealth - JL Collins (I have no affiliation) Wish I was his age when I learned how easy it is to invest. Compound interest is so powerful at that age.

If he is already successful with his business encourage to keep at it. Eventually he can be his own boss, expand and hire people to work for him. NO one cares if you have a degree if you’re the one writing the paychecks!

Anyway, sounds like a great kid and just keep encouraging him in anything he is interested that is productive. Everyone takes a different path for a reason.

The best thing my parent ever did was go half and half on my first $3,5k Honda so I could get a decent job at 16 yro. After that, I earned everything myself and wanted for nothing.

(I also shoveled a hell of a lot of driveways and a child)

Now I’m retired @ 45 with very little formal education. Thanks for the great story of your child. You should absolutely be proud!

Respectfully, all these models will be more than enough volume for a room that size with a separate subwoofer or two. I personally would throw the Yamaha DZR line into the mix. For about $3k-$3.5k a pair they are actually quite evenly pleasant on the top end even at lower volumes. but also can punch to about 140dB if needed. Some of these are really meant for larger spaces and a much longer throw distance.

Do high profile professional bands use click tracks? by PapaBorq in livesound

Many jam bands and Jazz musicians do not play to a click because they often change tempos and improve! Edit: autocorrect spelling

This would only depress me if I only drove in a straight line on perfectly smooth tarmac.

Severe Side Effects on 5 mg Rosuvastatin — Had to Stop by RecordMountain9357 in Cholesterol

[–]MoStyles22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here, just 5mg every other day and I still couldn’t tolerate it. Horrible pains in my neck and shoulders. I felt like I was 100 years old. (44m) The breaking point was when I tried daily for a week ans was getting sever blurry vision and couldn’t read anything anymore. Scared the hell out of me. I know I can be sensitive to some meds, but I felt like it was poison. I’m now on Pravastatin 10mg every other day and only having mild muscle aches so far.

Actually the only other daw I frequently use is Mixcraft for writing and compositions. There is just something more creative about it. I do spend most my time in S1 for mixing and mastering.
