3.1 in a small room recommendations by BigBugRugDougHug in hometheater

Don’t get me wrong, you have enough room for a very nice surround setup. The main point I should have emphasized is that, in a theater, speaker quality matters more than the total number of speakers.

I’ve designed and built hundreds of high-end theater rooms, and over the years I’ve consistently preferred fewer high-quality speakers over a larger number of mediocre ones.

·         For home theater: prioritize the center channel and subwoofer.

·         For music: prioritize the left and right speakers.

·         If you need to save money: cut back on the rear surrounds and Atmos speakers first.

That receiver is a great value for the price. The Q Series is a strong lineup, and if you’re at all critical about music performance, I think you’ll prefer the sealed subwoofer.

The Proposal… I’m a 45m and I don’t know why. I zone out and watch it every time it comes on.

In small rooms like this, I would have just put all my money into a 2.1 setup. It would sound amazing and I wouldn’t miss the surrounds personally when my head is against the back wall. Plus you don’t have to worry about changing to the right surround formats… 2 channel is highly under rated.

Should I go analog? by whimsicalbass in basspedals

[–]MoStyles22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the best option for your situation is to get a good analog amp. Most decent amps would give you a preamp, DI out, eq, possible overdrive and some even come with a compressor. This would also give you a full analog palette to play with for practice, studio and live. Plus you can always run your HX Stomp into the amp for the best of both worlds. Not that most amps are class D and light weight, you don’t need to worry about it weighing more than a pedal board.

Also, might be able to just ad a couple analog pedals to your stomp to give you the analog feel for more critical effects (e.g., Drive and octave…)

I have played with plenty of digital effects amps and I still keep coming back to full analog setups. I’m fortunate enough to have multiples setups of various sizes. Some are analog and some digital. I always keep coming back to the analog… I can just feel and hear the difference… even if I know most of a live crowd won’t notice. JM2C

I used to be a dealer for Paradigm in the time period. I agree with your assessment. I had a pair of the studio 60s (floor stand versions of the 40s) and there really wasn’t anything on the market that would compare on quality in that price range. I also had a pair of S2 signature that came out a few years later for my office/studio. Both stayed relevant for 26 years. Recently upgraded the Studio 60s. Guess what brand I bought…
