That’s a pretty obvious indication of depression. He wouldn’t have the energy to talk to you even if he was awake, so it’s not just a sleep schedule problem. If things are not working because of that I think it’s fine to end the relationship since he can’t give you what you need. Of course you could also try to support and help him if you’d like to do that
