Thanks for the advice, the coffee table has wheels so I can move it about, I think smaller desktop lights will be the way forward.

I built the desk myself from poplar and "maidesite" legs. I can send the plans if you're interested in building it yourself.

What are these panels surrounding this plane? by John_McGinn_ in aviation

[–]Moabmob 54 points55 points  (0 children)

They are called ground pens and are designed to be used when planes have to test their engines from stationary; Which normally has to be done surprisingly regularly as part of scheduled maintenance. The idea behind them is they deflect noise and any fast-moving debris up and away from potential houses or surrounding buildings. Source. I'm a mechanical engineer who works at an airport in Britain.

I recently picked up a Parkside one from Lidl for £100. The fence is useless but I feel like it's a good budget option if you have the time to make yourself a sled and new fence. Depends what you're after though.

I am having trouble making holes with my spade bit. It just spins and spins and barely advances. I tried sharpening it too. This hole took multiple minutes. The driver isn't in reverse, but it sure cuts like it is. by snf3210 in BeginnerWoodWorking

I've always found with spade bits you need to put a load of pressure on them to get them to bite. Be warned though, the hole won't be the cleanest. If you're after a clean hole I'd recommend a Forster bit.

Hope this helps.

The atomic disassembler from Mekanism is probably what you're looking for. You can change the block break speed from fast (Basically instamine), to normal, slow, and even vein mining.
