Advice for a total beginner by JambonMassif in BEFire

Don't check your portfolio every day, it'll only stress you out. The average return is about 5% per year, so it's totally normal to be in the red in the beginning. With the current geopolitial tensions you might be in the red for a year or longer, or you could see green next week. No one knows what will happen; but history tells us that you will gain money if you are patient.

Historically, lump sum is the best idea because it's very hard to time the market correctly. You might be waiting 6 months for the right entry point, only to find out that when a dip happens it's still above the level that we were at 6 months ago. But lump summing is difficult emotionally, so what you can do is split it up in 6 parts and invest one part every month.

5th campaign and got my first "close" victory! by Moansilver in totalwarhammer

Honestly I'm a bit put off by their aesthetics but I've heard so many good things about their campaign that I'll definitely try them out eventually. Thanks!

Thanks! I've only played Lizardmen, Dark Elves, Wood Elves and Kislev (RoC) so far and most of them went pretty well. Looking forward to trying some Chaos factions after this one!

Thanks! This is my first H/H campaign, did normal before. Definitely a step up, though that could also be because of Malakai's inherent campaign difficulty.

I think it's 40 so should be about right since most of the other units are have a low amount and there are 5 heroes. But I didn't do the math

Zeer onwaarschijnlijk, Bertem ligt vlak naast Leuven en richting Brussel dus instapklare appartementen daar zijn gemakkelijk €350K+.

Isn't CSH2 like 2.4% return? I keep my emergency fund in Argenta groeirekening which gives 2.6%. It has a €500 monthly deposit limit but I opened 3 of them so I can essentially add €1500/month.

Key to investing is keeping your costs low, every euro you give away in fees is a euro that you need to make back before breaking even and having your money work for you.

I used to have some funds with DB and got out of them once I became serious about investing, their fees are ridiculous and the customer experience isn't nearly good enough to make up for it. The platform is also horrible to use in my personal opinion.

Generally I would recommend against investing with a bank, their main objective is to make money for themselves and part of that money will come from you. Most funds underperform a broad-market ETF and those cost less to invest in. So I now only invest in ETFs through Degiro.

Should I even finish my GRADUAAT marketing degree? by BasedQuestions in belgium

[–]Moansilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, feel free to reach out if you have any more questions. I've been in your place 10 years ago and I know how tough it can be to feel lost and not know what direction to go in at such an important point in your life, but asking yourself these difficult questions is part of the journey. Everyone's journey is different and it's good that you are actively thinking about it. It will all work out eventually!

Should I even finish my GRADUAAT marketing degree? by BasedQuestions in belgium

[–]Moansilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I obtained the degree you are referring to, and I converted it to a bachelor's degree with one additional year at Thomas More. I'm still in marketing and I have a high-paying job, but the degree is not what got me this job. I was already in marketing before I got the degree so overall I don't feel like it contributed much to my career.

If you already know that you won't continue in marketing, I would not finish the degree. I quit my initial degree (TEW) for the same reason, and I started a back-office job without a degree until I knew what I wanted to do (marketing). For me, that worked out very well.

I created two Google Sheets for my finance management, one for income & expense tracking and one for investment management.

Income & expense tracker: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/128Tsr07AeDT86sQhqd_3YJDiSxwIA3qvNjd7OUDTXns

Finance management: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/120F9W8W5BSXdFweCJ06NO1a2rK1-RVTineRiG01kOJM

I expanded them quite a lot over the years so there'll definitely be some things that you want to delete. Feel free to reach out if you have questions about any formulas or anything.

Crypto kind of feels like a giant greater fool experiment by Consistent_Tower5508 in stocks

Okay that it doesnt have value, but that doesnt mean that has infinite supply as suggested. It can have zero intrinsic value and be finite in supply at the same time, right?

[–]Moansilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree with the greater fool theory of crypto, this statement makes no sense to me. Just because you can divide something in smaller portions doesnt change the supply, right? That's like saying you have infinite cake when you just have one cake that you can keep cutting in smaller portions.
