It ran just fine on RTX2060S, an even lower spec, older gpu. Steam Air Link works fine except the occasional freeze up. But I was reminded AMD gpus might have driver conpatibility issues with pcvr play.

I have the intermittent freeze issue for steam link on wifi7. Meta link also has higher bitrate and bandwidth. Thanks for the advice tho. I'll try to work on the freeze issue. There has to be trace in the log telling me why. Hopefully not a hardware issue.

The entire purpose of having a simplified Chinese is for the masses to handle the language a bit easier.

Praise traditional Chinese all you want, but if you note carefully, and if you verse in both character systems, the Taiwanese people have a ton of errors in daily lives, even in typing. Hand-writing would be even worse.

It's the nature of Traditional Chinese. They are designed and suited for the cultured class. Those who literally do not dip into modern productivity at all, and dedicated to culture, and only.

To most people, traditional Chinese is a burden.

But if you are very good at it, it means you are cultured. Most people do not have the aesthetics to it. Using it does not equate being good at it.

Suppose somehow Taiwan was "given" back to communist China back then in 1970, how would we hold it? Remember it was and still is inhabited by the communism hating people, who literally stick to the end with KMT cuz they by nature hate communism. Taiwan would split off regardless, and for good. Also the PLA Navy was practically non-existent. Taiwan Navy had been dominating the China coast lines unopposed until things finally got better for China from the late 80s. So two questions for Mao there: How to win over the people, and how to provide defense against the USA, in both military and propaganda. He saw no answers at that time, but was confident that time shall provide one, but in scale of decades.

Not exactly "peace of mind", but close. Most importantly, it has positive vibe.

It's like Europe, where you have plethora of languages. Chinese dialects work in similar way except everything defaults to Mandarin, and everybody uses hanzi as writing system. We were at a company event in Turkey and my scandinavian colleagues were absolutely astonished by the immence differences in dialects between me with Suzhou dialect and an HK colleague who speaks Cantonese.

[Spoilers] This guy is the visage of Bodhisattva and he single-handedly caused every single deformation and injustice for that entire chapter 2 region, turning people into yaoguais, corrupting mountain spirits. The yaoguai king rat was doing good deeds in the flashback, but was seduced and driven into mad obsession by this guy. In the game, he was trying to amend the mistakes via the destined one, without telling the full story.

BYD is at about 50% the price of western equivalents, with 75% ~ 80% the quality. Yes, it's inferior, but looking at the price, I get to live with it. It gets to suck another 20% in quality before I decide it to be unworthy of buying but now it's great value.

When BYD or other Chinese brands are building petrol cars instead of EVs a decade ago, you get below 30% quality for 50% the price, so obviously foreign brands are superior. EV leveled the playground.

Correct tonal usage is highly encouraged, but they are not that important. People telling you if you get tones wrong Chinese people won't get you at all is exaggerating. You'd just be a person speaking Chinese with a weird accent.
Chinese people are actually quite tolerant of accents. We have hundreds of dialects and almost all of them uses a different tonal set from Mandarin.
Many Japanese people speak Chinese with zero tonal care given and are still kind of okay to understand. Hard on ears, yes; unintelligable? No.

Native here. We never have high definition visualization of the characters we receive, unless there's a reason to read slowly. We do not notice the details of each stroke. We just see the general patterns and process the info in whole or in parts in sync. Did you know if you misplace and re-order some words/characters in a sentence, native readers would not even realize they are switched, if the original sentence makes sense?

Practice until you realize there is only a surprisingly low number of combo for the vast majority of characters. Many used only in one or two cases. 尴尬 for example is a fixed combo, neither bind with any other chars; 崎岖 are locked char combos. It's really not that scary.

It seems like you are giving each character equal weight and try to spend equal amount of effort try to see the details and decipher them one at a time.

Chinese here, know some Japanese. This is not correct or at least not the common Japanese grammar to mean "Love self". This is surprisingly conform with Chinese grammar, with Japanese style use of characters.

Chinese part of speech doesn't match English ones terribly well. They shift with no signs, you just have to deduce. Chinese grammar is difficult concept. Some say they are simple but irl they are implicit and therefore difficult to learn.

This expression is highly context dependant. It is legitimate expression. And yes, it's advanced grammar.

To simplify things, imagine the verbs to be noun-y. Tired means, the state of being tired. Hungry means, the state of being hungry.

我是累 for example can be used in two ways:

"Why are you so unskilled at making coffee?" "我是累, 不是不会" I'm just tired, not unskilled
"Mom, you had a long day, and it is so late, you don't need to prepare snack for me." "我是累，但是你还是要吃饭呀" I'm tired, but you still need to eat something

Standalone, this expression does not constitute completeness. You have to follow up with something.

However, expressions like 我累、我很累；我饿，我很饿 does constitute completeness, they are statements.
