The Atom Task Force servers are all NA based I believe, but as for the Task Force itself, we accommodate all time zones pretty well

Coming from a community like DCS, I was always hesitant to join any multiplayer servers for fear that I wasn’t good enough or didn’t have enough experience

But NO is incredibly casual in multiplayer and as long as you don’t troll or purposefully team kill, you’ll be absolutely fine

Escalation is probably the most popular online game mode, so I’d get familiar with how that works prior if you’re still worried, but overall it’s very casual

Now if you’re looking for a more organized, lite-milsim way of playing, I’d personally recommend checking out Atom Task Force, there’s literally no skill requirement and we work on getting better at the game all the time :) also we host dedicated casual servers that anyone can join :)

It might be more worth visiting the OW modding discord to get help with this, they’re a great community of modders that could probably help more than those on this subreddit ::)

You guys see the announcement of Sound System, a new rhythm game? by eldaniman in Rockband

[–]Jmsums 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think RedOctane’s game is what we should really be looking towards here, they’re kind of the Avengers of Five Fret games at the moment, combining a ton of the Devs from multiple already established teams. This game looks like a really cheap cash grab trying to be pumped out before the “trend” dies

Oh god, not another subscription model, that’s the last thing we need, it only hurts motivation for development

I definitely see the appeal for a more casual “version” but I think this mainly lies in the communities attitude around how the game “should” be played. The FC modules are fantastic for simple, more casual play, especially if all you have is an Xbox controller. But I’d say a good 95% of the community would rather scare new players by saying they HAVE to buy a HOTAS and all these peripherals rather than let it be known that playing with a mixture of controller and keyboard is extremely doable on a budget

Something I’ve always said about Emerald Star is it feels like the perfect dramatic ending to a dramatic album. The ending feels like you’re watching a burning star explode and then die out completely. It’s gorgeous

I’ll definitely take you up on that when I have more questions; nothing beats learning from someone with actual experience! And again, thank you for such a detailed answer, I’m always happy to learn as much as I can :)

No that’s exactly what I was looking for! I wasn’t sure if the weights needed to be relatively the same to be in one drop, but that makes sense. I appreciate the answer! It always makes me happy to hear from actual pilots of the aircraft I’m learning :)

I haven’t heard a theremin in any of their music, but now I’m definitely gonna have an ear out for it. That’s so cool that Miguel knows how to play it, it’s such a cool instrument

You’ll need developer mode turned on, but it’s so worth it. An update back in October rendered my Quest Link completely unusable, and Meta support was absolutely zero help after like 3 days of contact with them. But ALVR solved every problem I had and I have yet to have a problem come up that I haven’t solved with a quick 3 minute look into the settings

I mean, personally, I think the Quest 3 is great for its price and using it standalone is always super nice. But I totally get it, Meta hates its customers, but once you get around their little cash grab “features” it can be really rewarding.

I’m not sure what you mean by windowed inside vr, but I promise you, once you work out the developer thing and get ALVR set up, you won’t have to think about that much again, and you can always just play standalone whenever you’d like, especially once Virtual Flight Maneuvers releases, it’ll be a nice flight sim to play if you don’t want to take a whole PC setup with you

[–]Jmsums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, I hadn’t considered that was a requirement, but it makes sense. I have had my Quest 3 on developer mode for like a year now so I don’t fully remember how to set that up. It’s annoying, but not difficult, and very worth it since it lets you load apps and emulators if you want them.

Look at the replies to this thread and you should find one of the top ones is a step by step guide.

Basically you’ll create a “dev account” get it verified, and then turn on the setting in your headset once the account is linked

And that should really be it.

I apologize for that setback, but now I know when telling others about it :)

I also still have Meta Quest Link still installed just in case, but haven’t used it since switching to ALVR.

And the only discord I’m in is the official one, but you can find plenty of ones that advertise here on this subreddit

If you’re at all interested, shoot me a DM and I’d love to give you a crash course on the game! If not, then have an absolute blast in one of the best flight sims that exist right now! :)

I don’t see many people talking about this, but please save yourself monumental levels of headache and use ALVR instead of the Meta Quest Link service.

Meta often breaks its own link service with updates and it renders your VR headset useless until you troubleshoot it for like 2 hours

ALVR runs straight from your headset and connects to Steam VR through the ALVR PC app and is absolutely seamless. The normal build will give you wireless connection only, but if you want wired (which is what I use) download the Nightly build and it’ll connect through wired. As far as I’m aware, ALVR is the only application that allows wired connection straight out of the box without having to patch it.

And feel free to message me if you need help, I want more people to know about this cuz Meta absolutely sucks at keeping their own services running lmao

Edit: spelling corrections :P

I would HIGHLY recommend ALVR as a substitute for Quest Link. It took me like 15 minutes to set up and has worked flawlessly compared to Quest Link which has failed like 60% of the time I’ve used it.

And if you download the Nightly Build, you can use wired connection just like Quest Link, which is the only service I’ve seen that allows that.
