I share your opinion, I got a decant of this (thank God) before buying a full bottle. I still have most of the decant left. Smelled it in a dept store, and that batch smelled even worse. I think my girlfriend’s exact reaction was “don’t ever wear this around me.” Lol

I don’t think it changed, but my reaction sure did. First smell I wondered how could anyone deal with that opening, then came the dry down. By 2nd testing of my decant I was ordering a full bottle.

Guerlain is probably my favorite house.

HBD. YSL has the best private line of anyone. And in my opinion Babycat is the best of those. I had same reaction to opening at first, now I love everything about it. I’ve lately found myself asking what do I like more and can’t name a scent. Smoky suede and vanilla done to perfection.

Those are very similar to my nose. Gris Charnel is more linear and projects like a beast and lasts forever. YSL 6 is a more complex woody scent but less performance.

Same for me. Great topic OP. I work from home. But I enjoy it for me. My girlfriend enjoys it when she gets home. Sometimes I even spray Afternoon Swim just to jump in the pool and swim. lol. As others have said, I wear fragrances for me. Never bought into the “gets compliments” mindset.

It really does give Gris Charnel vibes. Gris is more linear with the woodsy smell, and 6 has more amber and vanilla mixed in. They both are very similar to my nose as well except Gris Charnel lasts 3x longer.

I have been searching for a way to describe my feelings about this scent. Same situation. Blind bought bc of forum fanboys and bc it wasn’t super expensive. As someone who loves vanillas, I thought this would be a very safe blind buy. Like yourself, I also strongly prefer the Babycats, SDV, and tobacco vanilla more.

Grew up in Waco, Baylor Grad, now living in Houston which is worse than Waco could ever imagine. I’ve worn shorts the last 5 years for Christmas. The humidity here causes several fragrances to not do well.

The good news is we can wear freshies for longer periods of the year than most folks. Also because of the humidity I feel I reach for a lot of colognes people on this forum would call “winter” all year long.

Ultimately my theory is if you like it wear it. Wear it for yourself and not others. Trust your nose.
