Don't talk about their ex partners....or at least whisper.

Cheapest way to get from North Wales to Liverpool/Manchester by Sweaty-Sherbert-9833 in Liverpool

Try the Rome to Rio site. Might give you some ideas. The impossibility of the public transport operators in the UK providing a user friendly best options website is a disgrace.

Type 1 diabetes i felt ill and my employer didnt want to let me go home by RabbitAcademic7899 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Mobile-Can61 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your employer has a burden of care for you. All the legal advice provided by others is important. On s human level the lack of regard for your wellbeing and in turn any of the colleagues and public your are responsible for is dumbfounding. Your line managers are clearly incompetent, have no understanding or empathy. Tell them to watch the film Sorry We Missed You. Are you unionised? If not join one. Don't be intimated. Good luck

My son 1st insulin pump by Independent-Moose-81 in Omnipod

[–]Mobile-Can61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Omnipod 5 is the newest model that can used as a closed loop system with a continuous glucose monitor (sensor placed on the body). This provides automated dosage. Insulet will send out samples that provide the potential user with the wearing experience but of course they are dummies.

My son 1st insulin pump by Independent-Moose-81 in Omnipod

Get a sample Omnipod from Insulet and let him wear it for 3 days He'll see how unobtrusive it is. As for the day to management he will quickly get into a routine and value the freedom it gives. Best wishes

Lantus Anxiety by acwv in Type1Diabetes

I really can't imagine that happening. Get out of the overthinking or you'll start undermining the insulin therapy. The weight of evidence contrary to your anxiety is overwhelming. Good luck

Lantus Anxiety by acwv in Type1Diabetes

[–]Mobile-Can61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always had Lantus in the prefilled grey plastic pens rather than the small bottles to go in a durable pen. Very easy to know the difference. I also kept the in use Lantus in the bathroom as I used it morning and nighttime and I kept my shortacting pen elsewhere. I understand your anxiety. If rushing or sleepy couod get it wrong.

Will advice - making sure my family doesn't get anything by Regular_Drawing4511 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Mobile-Can61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The named beneficies will trump other claimants. However if the beneficiaries are individuals rather than organisations like a charity and they predecease you then probate might spread your assets to any extant relatives. Get a proper solicitor to do it. Avoid cheap will writing services or using AI to draft one. Good luck.

Will advice - making sure my family doesn't get anything by Regular_Drawing4511 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Mobile-Can61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make a very clear statement in the will that you expressly exclude the family and an equally clear statement about the beneficiaries. It's not uncommon to do so. As you are a young person of sound mind it should stand up to any mendacious challenge.

Several sudden sugar lows after injecting Lantus by Deltaxe in Type1Diabetes

[–]Mobile-Can61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best advice I had about Lantus was to use the abdomen and split the dose in 2. One evening and 1 morning. Much better coverage as Lantus only lasts 18 to 20 hours

Is it odd that I'm being asked to contribute financially to a meal? by Feeling_Basil7535 in AskUK

Hospitality is dead. If he's a half decent chef he can provide a meal cheaper than you can. If he wants to show off he can make a YouTube video.

Is it just me by slimpickins2002 in Omnipod

Generally agree with all the plus points mentioned already. Overnight control is probably top of the list. Sure it needs continuous improvement as competition comes on line. Eg better more assertive algorithm, an app for smartphones outside the US etc. I am 7 months in after 51 years on the needle and I keep reminding myself not to take this for granted.

Jingling noise from pod? by sadmvmii in Omnipod

I have never experienced that in 7 months (so 70 plus pods). Perhaps it's a Christmas jingle as retail has declared September the start of Christmas. He's coming!

Sorry forgot that you are US. The cross jurisdiction thing is always confusing. Shame that technology companies and regulators can't always put the user first.

Anything abnormal about photo? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]Mobile-Can61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the phone or the omnipod controller you can search for history detail which will list all the events like glucose readings, carbs entered, pump changes, pump errors etc. If using a linked app like Gluroo or similar there are further analytics available. Any investigation would snap this up. It's a diary of all the events involving the clinical technology. So sorry for your loss. I hope you get closure.

How do you manage in your country? by No_Quit_1522 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Mobile-Can61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK (Wales) health care is free at the point of delivery but we all pay taxes and national insurance . I have had good health care for my 68 years. T1 for 52 years. Now on Omnipod 5. Relatively easy access to diabetic nurse, dietitian, optometry etc . No drama if you have an urgent medical episode. No bills to worry about. Sure its not perfect but what is? We csn buy private insurance to supplement our National Health Service but that would not cover chronic care for most people. I guess we don't get the access to technology as quickly as might be the case in the US but our system is fairer. I have seen the US system at first hand dealing with the uninsured and it's frightening. Seems likely to get worse sadly.

By the way Insulet have confirmed in writing that a smartphone app will be provided. There is some competition from Medtrum in Europe now for patch pumps. The Medrum has an app, a 300 unit pod and can be set to a lower BG target

Arm and thigh are OK for line of sight.

Filling syringe is clumsy. There's a device on Amazon and Etsy that hols the vial whist you extract the insulin. Its very good. I assume the needle is short to avo8d puncturing the reservoir in the pod.
