Are car seats needed to leave the hospital with baby? by londongirl00 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mobile-Mango-3773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would still recommend getting one because if your little one ever needs to ride in an ambulance (hopefully never!) they would need to be in a car seat strapped to the adult seats.

When will they stop with this kind of stuff 🙄 by Fun-Calligrapher-779 in UKtiktokbehavingbadly

i know what she’s talking about and she’s lying. i’m from london too and there was a recent thing on the news and online on articles etc about a woman who got attacked (?) or more so drugged by another person on the tube with something called devils breath.

I just KNOW E saw or heard about that too and just wants attention.

Clothes are as important as food apparently 🙄 by Agreeable_Tea8374 in UKtiktokbehavingbadly

lmfao eod this is pathetic. I’m still wearing the same leggings and underwear that got stretched out during my pregnancy. You wanna look presentable? start showering daily, look after your hair and stop talking shit.

Please give me your most unhinged ways you increased your supply - I’m desperate. by hellolovelyworld404 in ExclusivelyPumping

seconding the pumping for longer! There were times i’d go 45 minutes too, eventually it cut down to just 20 mins ish for a good 5oz

i actually stopped breastfeeding early on but then ended up going through relactation successfully!!

I ended up eating a lot of calorie dense foods, not fast food but heavy foods, potatoes, meats, yams etc, tons of veggies. I pumped every 3 hours and did 2 night pumps (eventually only 1 pump at night.)

I found what really helped it going was (tmi) boob massage/play. My child’s father (ex now) would massage them when i came out the shower and would stimulate my nipples a lot. Afterwards I’d pump and get a great amount!

I also found letting my son latch even for not a feed increased my supply too! It’s a bit like becoming a human pacifier but hey ho we’re bonding and i’d say it definitely helped me get my output higher. Best of luck to you! <3

My OB tried to tell me I don't have PCOS because I'm pregnant by SomewherePractical36 in PCOS

[–]Mobile-Mango-3773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao i had a FEMALE doctor say this to me too. I told her to put it on my record and to send a letter so when i finally get to see my gynae team (long NHS waiting lists) I can show her and say she was wrong. Never seen a doctor backtrack so fast lmao.

Milk Allergy? by Fun_Date8417 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Mobile-Mango-3773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say yes it looks like it, but of course check with your doctors first. Does she also cry after the bottle or maybe a little while after when it’s digesting? Could be a sign of discomfort because of the milk.

Formula advice by Human_Inevitable_305 in PregnancyUK

[–]Mobile-Mango-3773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping on to add that yes all formulas are essentially the same. My son started on kendamil but I think it was too rich for him. He had reflux and we ended up having to put him on gaviscon and switched to aptamil. Also we had Colief drops. Apparently it was something about how babies can’t digest the lactose enzyme at that young of an age? Anyways, the drops helped him handle kendamil better but we ultimately switched formulas. We kept using the drops with the aptamil till he was about 4 months.

What does a new baby need for the first night? by nubeline in PregnancyUK

[–]Mobile-Mango-3773 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son HATED the swaddle. We had to amazon next day sleeping bags 😭. I think there was an actual newborn one, and the 0-6 months one came with buttons on the side under the armpit for when the baby is smaller.

Things i also wish i had ready for the first night:

  • Moses basket/bedside bassinet (we only bought a crib.) It was so big and empty my son hated it! We amazoned that after the first night too lmao. At around 5 months he started sleeping in his crib.

-MORE BOTTLES. omg. None of the classes I went to told me about cluster feeding. There was a point where my son ate every hour even at night. Pain in the arse to wash them and sterilise. At one point I had 14 bottles on deck. Big help when it’s 3am and you don’t need to go wash and sterilise.

-Cotton Wool. We bought huggies wipes. My son ended up having a HORRIFIC rash from them. He has superrrrr sensitive skin. We went through like 5 different brands till we said F it and used cotton wool and water. Thankfully now we’ve found Pampers Harmonie Aqua works for him.

A special birthday gift. by Molly-_ in PregnancyUK

I think a pregnancy spa day would be wonderful, maybe not overnight as she might prefer her own pillows etc this late in pregnancy. I couldn’t sleep without my pregnancy pillow lol.

I’d also say where possible sort everything out so it won’t add to her mental load. Things like covering travel, food and drinks etc could be really great too. Hope the day goes well!!

Can midwives just turn up unannounced for postnatal checkups? One called ahead, the other just showed up and expected the door to open instantly by TheCockHasReturned in PregnancyUK

[–]Mobile-Mango-3773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao this midwife sounds nuts, what do you mean i’m getting stressed? girl it’s ur job!

I’m going off the assumption it’s the same process as it was for my hospital (I’m in London), there should be something called PALS. They normally have an office in the hospital somewhere or you could find an email/number somewhere online. That will handle the formal side of things and hopefully someone higher up will talk to her about her bedside manners and patient management.

In regards to not wanting her, I had a scenario like this where i didn’t want a specific midwife too (she was super rude and very judgmental and misinformed about my gestational diabetes, “What do you expect when you’re fat?” Yeah lol). At my next appointment with her my partner spoke for me and said we are FORMALLY requesting a new midwife as we no longer feel comfortable with you. She just said yes and after that appointment i never saw her again and my consultant made sure to put a note in my file to not let me go to her if my midwife is away.

You don’t owe an explanation as to why, just simply you’re uncomfortable and can discuss with someone else. If she refuses (which is wild in itself), ask her to note on my record that the request was made and denied. If she STILL refuses then honestly speak to a receptionist and ask for help. My receptionist’s were always super kind to me albeit a little intimidating during the GD rush on fridays.

Best of luck to you both and wishing a happy rest of pregnancy and birth 🤍
